A Journey to Love: Bible Belt

For a very long time people have been using faith and God to justify extreme cases of ignorance, intolerance, and injustice towards people of a different creed. Majorily, the homosexual community. It's been on my mind lately, can this type of behavior be cured or changed. With my own experiences of the Divine I have come to realize that we are all one and we are all connected. There is no difference.

A Journey to Love: Bible Belt is an approach I am taking to spread love, acceptance and tolerance no matter who you are, what you believe in or where you are from. I want to see for myself if the negative behaviors of those faithfully devout can be harmonized with Love. As I dance, I send a strong message to those who watch the performance, not just with entertainment but with emotion and feeling. I want to know if the people who Love God can also Love Me, a unique individual that has harmonized with the Universe. I am fearful that the people in the bible belt will not take kindly to me and may actually threaten my life, but that's all the more reason for me to do it. I don't believe I should have to fear people who believe in God, for God loves me just as I am.

This project is also a part of Love Music Hate Homophobia. Love Music Hate Homophobia is a unique way for the LGBT community to fight intolerance and injustice using the power of art. We use a creative outlet to say what we need to say and to promote an awareness for bigotry and homophobic tendencies. The sad reality is that we may never end homophobia but the beautiful dream is that we can impact the future one mind and one heart at a time. We must demand full equality for all.

Where is the money going?

All of the money will be generated through grants, donations and sponsorships. Roughly $10,000 is needed to make the Tour a success. The money will provide a conversion van to travel in as well as sleep in (which will cut the cost of having to use hotels and hostels), Insurance for the Van, Gas for the duration of the tour, Food, Promotional materals, and sound equipment for public dancing. Any funds that remain after the tour will be donated to LGBT Youth Services.

Other Ways You Can Help
