I'm JT Pratt, a college student about to graduate with a major in Film and TV Production and a minor in Creative Writing. I love storytelling and believe it is a true way to connect with people.
A Long Road Ahead follows two siblings, Vanessa and David, running away from their abusive parents in search of a better home. The film explores themes of what it means to be alive and who you become despite your circumstances. Vanessa, the older sister, does everything she can to protect her little brother from their parents, the world, and himself. David, the younger brother, is struggling to be who he wants to be and is losing himself amid his pain. The characters are consistently put in one situation after another which allows for dialogue between the two that peels off layers of who they are and who they are becoming.
This film is an adaptation of a 7-minute short I wrote and directed during my senior year in high school. The story has always been so intriguing and I’ve always wanted to come and revisit this world and these characters in a reinvention. Now, in my senior year in college, there’s a group of people who love this idea and are excited about the possibility of having this funding to support our endeavor.
What We Need & What You Get
We are asking for $600 to support our project. We only want those who are financially able to support our film to donate money. We will be putting this film on Vimeo for free. We chose this distribution method because we want everybody to watch our experience film for free and not be obligated to have to pay. So please, only consider donating if you are financially able to do so. Any further funds will go towards helping promote this film.
If you donate $25 or more, we will mention you as an official sponsor in our credits. If you donate $50 or more, we will give you access to the film a week early. If you donate $100 or more, we will enter you into a raffle to join us online talking about the film.

We want to be transparent with you about where the money is going. The money will be used for paying for props for the film ($250), being able to feed our cast and crew during the hours of production and post-production($250), and securing a location for to film ($100). Any money left over will go directly into promotional ads ($400 or less).
A Look Inside
Most of the film takes place with them on the road, either walking or in the car. The overall arc of the story focuses on Vanessa preserving David’s heart and preventing him from turning into something he may regret. In the end, David finally breaks down and allows Vanessa to help him, but right before he has to fend for himself and be brave in this new world. The entire film takes place in one full day and mostly is outside, putting them directly in the consequences of their situations. We hope this film speaks to people in their situation and that they recognize some of the Christian undertones we add in the film
