The DT6 Team

The DT6 Formula One Air Racer is the brainchild of renowned Advanced Transportation Designer Dave Triano. Dave is the creator of over 180 vehicles in the Aerospace, Marine and Automotive industries in the last 27 years, and has a 40-year history working with advanced composite materials. Dave has built many experimental aircraft over his lifetime, and currently owns a fast and beautiful Q-200. Combining these talents with a lifelong love of fast aircraft, Dave has spent the last 5 years carefully designing this new Formula One racer to challenge for the IF1 World Championship, and the aircraft are now ready to build.
The Triano Racing DT6 Team has been assembled from the world’s finest, a professional racing team to bring the DT6 aircraft from concept to victory:

Pilot Justin Phillipson will be working closely with Dave in the development of the new DT6. Having flown almost 10 different F1 racers and with experience in everything from seaplanes to helicopter to regional jets, he brings the necessary background and experience to thoroughly evaluate and develop the racer. Being a A&P and having built his own racer with his brother from scratch gives him the mechanical abilities to keep the production and flying progressing smoothly. With high finishes in the gold class at Reno and over the last 5 years and Thailand's AirRace1, Justin will be the lead development, test and race pilot for the DT-6.

Tooling and Systems Specialist Josh Phillipson is an exceptional craftsman with an exacting eye for detail and strong engineering. Josh and his brother Justin created their ‘No Strings Attached’ IF1 racer which has finished strong the last two years at Reno (5th and 3rd) and was victorious at the inaugural AirRace1 race in Thailand, 2016. Josh will be working closely with Dave to develop the high-precision hard tooling for the DT6, and lending his talents to the build of this remarkable racer.

Propulsion Specialist Roger Sturgess has been the driving force behind the Technical development of the fastest IF1 racers in history, and we are proud to have his talents on board in the development of the new 5-blade propeller for the DT6 project. Roger is the Mathematical Guru of IF1, with a peerless knowledge of the engineering of racing aircraft; an invaluable asset to the DT6 Team.
The DT6 project budget
This campaign will fund the construction of two DT6 aircraft, one for racing and development in the United States and the other devoted to worldwide Formula One competition in the AirRace1 World Cup. The project costs are separated into four main groups: Tooling, Construction Materials, Engines and other Systems, and Labor. Of the 150,000 dollar goal, 33,000 dollars is devoted to building the high-precision hard tooling for the aircraft, 37,000 dollars will go to the state-of-the-art advanced materials to build them, 30,000 dollars will provide the means to build the Continental O-200 racing engines for the team, and 50,000 dollars will pay for one year of Dave's complete time and attention, fully engaged and devoted to the DT6 builds.
The Rewards
We have a few exciting Triano Racing team items that we are producing just for this campaign, and some opportunities to actually make your name a permanent part of the DT6 aircraft!
Donations start out with the $5.00 cash donation, for which you will get a heartfelt THANK YOU, and we will add your name to the list of contributors at http://www.trianoracing.com . For $20.00 we will send you a pack of 6 DT6 Team stickers. For $30.00, you can be wearing the most stylish racing headgear available, your choice of a custom beanie hat or baseball cap with the Triano Racing DT6 Team patch onboard. For 40.00, you will get the great looking Triano Racing Team T-shirt, sporting the Triano Racing DT6 logo on the back and the DT6 special logo on the front. For $100.00, your Personal Sponsor name (up to 18 characters) will be painted permanently on the left wing of both DT6 aircraft, and polished to maintain the laminar flow of the wing! For $1000.00, your Corporate Sponsor business name or logo will be displayed with other Corporate Sponsors on the right wing of both aircraft, larger and more visible than the Personal Sponsors.
One of the most exciting DT6 Team rewards is the $350.00 Modeller's Pack. In addition to a full documentation set of scale three-views and exclusive prints of the DT6 aircraft and its construction, a very special semi-scale R/C version of the DT6 has been designed by Dave Triano and Dan Kane, past President of the National Miniature Pylon Racing Association and Champion racer, with special vacuum-formed components made by Jerry Small. This DT6 'short kit' is designed for the EF1 (Electric Formula One) class in NMPRA competition, for which it will be legal once the full-scale DT6 racers fly and compete. The 'short kit' will include laser-cut components for the fuselage, rudder, and elevator, pre-cut foam wing cores, plans, vacuum-formed cowling, canopy section, and turtleneck.
For personal benefactors or sponsors wishing a more prominent 'Title Sponsor' involvement with the Triano Racing DT6 Team, including highly visible advertising of your company logo, then the exclusive $25,000.00 Title Sponsor category is for you! Your advertising presence will occupy the largest display area on the DT6 airframe and your company will be well represented with informational displays at all venues where the Triano Racing Team competes for the first season, after which time you will receive first opportunity at future title sponsorship.
Why should you donate?
There has not been a totally new design in the Formula One class in about 20 years. New material science and more complete understanding of aerodynamic and thermodynamic principles have driven the DT6 design, and the time is right for a dominant new aircraft to debut. This represents a unique opportunity for every aviation enthusiast to literally make possible the creation of such a new aircraft. Every one of you can substantially contribute and participate in building these planes, and you can share in the pure joy when they fly to victory! Join us for the love of sport, the thrill of competition, and the best reason of all: to support the creation of something truly innovative and beautiful.
What about the challenges?
Dave is no stranger to challenging projects; a portfolio of his design work can be found at www.trianomarine.com. He has used his digital design techniques in the production of a tremendous number of prototype and production CNC tools. Dave has seen every angle of the process and knows the most efficient way to translate high precision digital files into real-world vehicles. Every skill, process, and technique is in place to build the DT6 racers. The hard work on the DT6 project has been accomplished, the aircraft are ready to build and we need YOUR help to do it.
With any project, unexpected challenges arise. Thankfully, Dave has been through this process so many times that the challenges are dealt with efficiently and effectively. The most imposing hurdle in the DT6 build is monetary; In addition to your donations, Dave is aggressively securing sponsorship in every project sector to ease the cost requirements, so that the cash from this campaign can be used most effectively.
You can help us in so many ways!
You can visit the TrianoRacing.com website at any time to see our latest news and progress. The Triano Racing DT6 racers will never see air under their wings without your help. Even if you cannot donate at this time, if you share our passion for the joy and science of flight, please promote this project to your friends and family and share the Indiegogo links on this page with your contacts on social media. We need sheer numbers to make this project fly, we need every aviation enthusiast on the planet to know about the DT6 project!
Most of all, THANK YOU for your interest. As we say in Reno, 'FLY LOW, FLY FAST, AND TURN LEFT'!
