A Perfect 14: A film about plus-size models fighting
to reshape the world of fashion and the standards of society.

"The documentary offers an unflinching look at the modelling business and its often unforgiving treatment of women with curves." - Daily Mail UK
“The fashion industry might take a whole 360 after this documentary” - Kontrol Magazine
A
Perfect 14 is a film that
exposes a world which people know very little about, a world of women
fighting against traditions and obsolete standards, a world of women
revealing beauty through diversity, a world of models representing a
large group in society that has been neglected and forgotten for
years by the fashion industry and the mass media.
This
film follows the journeys of three plus-size models as they struggle
against the distorted perception of body image that is being
perpetuated in people's minds. These women share their personal
experiences of challenges and successes to help empower themselves
and others to eradicate the currently held standards of beauty. In
addition to being successful models they are also driven to make a
positive impact in the world.

Wells is an established international top model from Australia
who was named Woman of the Year by Plus Model Magazine. At first she
refused to become a model when approached because of doubts about her
body “not looking like the 'norm'”. She is an ambassador for

Kerosene
Deluxe is a legendary European plus-size model whose career has
taken her throughout the world and has appeared in countless fashion
magazines and covers. Her traumatizing childhood has fuelled her
passion as a spokesperson against fat shaming and bullying. Kerosene
dispenses wisdom to women who struggle with their body image in an
advice column for the newsstand publication Missy/Ink Magazine. With
the support of her dedicated husband she is working toward the goal
of creating her own lingerie line for plus-size women.
This film explores the controversial term plus-size and
the divisive influence it has
on society by interviewing designers, photographers, standard
models, agencies, magazine editors, industry leaders and plus-size
pioneers in the meccas of the fashion world. It combines the stories
of the models with an exploration of the largely ignored topic of
weightism, one of the last acceptable types of discrimination.
Interviewing experts in the field of fat studies and body image, the
film also exposes the collective unconsciousness of size-based
segregation. It also asks the question of the media's responsibility
in its single focus portrayal of thin role models and how it takes a
heavy toll on the self confidence and body image of women.
A Perfect 14 shows the desperate need for diversity and
a true reflection of today's society in our media and role models.
The subjects of the film are determined to eliminate the established
perception in society that one size fits all.

The Impact
![]()
A
Perfect 14 provokes new ways of thinking by showing how
plus-size models are a completely new form of role model that society
needs. It is clear there is a lack of representation in the mass
media for the majority of the population. It's time for women to be
realistically portrayed and have some one to look up to who they feel
they can identify with. People need to start demanding diversity in
the media and this film shows that there are beautiful and talented
models ready to help close the gap between reality and the
unattainable portrayal of an ideal body.
