We are no strangers to development, learn more about us here.
We have worked at top innovative 3D startups, large tech and energy companies. And we've created hundreds of mobile titles focused on everything from security applications to casual games. Over the years, markets shifted, and we refined our passion.
In January of 2016, we moved to a new business model dedicated solely to creating dark immersive virtual reality games and formally founded Red Iron Labs.
We love horror, we love story telling, and we are excited to bring that passion to the game industry.

WHAT IS ABDUCTION?

Since the dawn of time, humanity has been getting abducted at night. These creatures have the innate ability to control our bodies and erase our minds.

In this series of games, you play as different characters in the world of ABDUCTION, becoming the first humans to build up a resistance to the controls of the creatures. As you play through the game, you will learn why we've been getting abducted, how the world is changing, and that earth is not the only planet being experimented on.

Our switch to virtual reality and desktop focused games is a major change for us. We spent 8 months perfecting our unique VR and Non-VR game hybrid methodology and we aim to become the dark "choose your own adventure" of immersive games.
There is a limit to how far we can get as a small studio. We need your help to raise funds so we can turbo charge our art and game quality as we finish the title.

You are helping fund the first major episode in a game series entitled ABDUCTION. The funds provided will be put towards the final stages of development.
We already finished the Prologue, and we are well into development for Episode 1.
ABDUCTION EPISODE 1: HER NAME WAS SARAH

Abduction Episode 1: Her Name Was Sarah greatly expands on the prologue.
With approximately 15x the game size, and countless hours of exploration, we aim for the story to entice and capture you as you play through the game.

Your journey begins with Sarah as a child, coming to grips with the understanding that she has been getting abducted at night by evil creatures. As you continue to move through different stages and moments in her life, you change how the game will end and how her role is influenced throughout future titles in the series.
We changed the way we look at games while working on Sarah's story-line, by putting the story first and building the environment around her.

Environment is everything in story telling.
Our goal is to build as realistic of an environment as possible. This means carefully measuring and accurately detailing everything in the 3D world space.

Throughout the chapters of the game, you will find yourself exploring many unique areas. Exploration is encouraged, but make sure to know your surroundings at all times.
We've prototyped the environment to truly be massive and scalable.

Missions, quests and goals vary wildly with frequent randomization. A random experience means a recovery room that protects one person will be the death for another, and that the answer to a puzzle isn't always predictable.
Throughout the game play experience, you will go from hospitals, to hotels, to apartment buildings, to industrial areas (and even a bunker).
Learn as much as you can, because there are many tricks you can leverage to increase your survival. And avoid going through the storefront at all costs, we hear that dude is crazy.
THE CREATURES

Our creature designs start in standard pen and paper, move through into clay like modelling, and are eventually rendered into the game. Allowing us to create well crafted and articulate creatures that are downright terrifying.

In the world of ABDUCTION, most things want to kill you. But not all aliens are created equal...

Humanoids, are very human like creature in appearance. Smart, and precise, these creatures typically come as a pack and are lead by a Doctor alien.
Their main purpose is to dissect humans to understand how humans have evolved a resistance to their abilities. These are by far the most common alien, and even when abducted you have a high probability of survival... but don't underestimate them.
THE DOCTOR

Acting as the alpha race for the Humanoids, The Doctor is a specialized creature. They have both genetic and bio-mechanical modifications and enhancements and rarely leave the mother-ship. Their overall shape is similar to a human and a Grey alien, with their clusters of eyes closer together for better tool precision.
Genetically they have enlarged brains, and are extremely efficient problem solvers. Due to the increased neural pathways, The Doctor race has enhanced psionics, allowing them to modify behaviors of Psi-Resistant humans and even some members of the Reptilian species.
In other words, the resistance developed by humans can be overcome by The Doctor.
GREYS

Grey's are the scouts and explorers of the humanoid species.
Their clusters of eyes are similar to a spider, allowing them to see in many directions at once, as well as making it easier for them to see movement. Generally non-violent, a Grey is most likely to capture its prey and return it to the mother-ship for analysis.
CRAWLERS

Crawlers are the foot soldiers of the Humanoids.
Genetically and surgically modified, the Crawlers were once Grey's. Once deemed to be injured or inferior, they are put through excruciating body modification. Due to the incredible pain and modifications endured, they are typically angry creatures, and very likely to injure their prey.

As you play through the story, you will learn that humanity was not the only species to fall under attack of the Humanoids and to build up a resistance. There is a far more sinister race of beings, existing solely for revenge.
These Reptilian creatures are hunters by nature, and extremely violent. Their main purpose is to cause death and destruction of Humanoids.
HUNTER

Hunters are absolutely terrifying. These creatures are the alpha species and decision makers for the Reptilians. However, unlike their Humanoid counterpart, Hunters insist on being in the center of their troop, and will be active on the ground. If you see any other Reptilian in the area, you can assume that a Hunter is nearby.
They know no remorse, and exist solely to hunt and feed.
SHADOWMAN

Dark, silent and slow, these giant creatures not only hide in the shadows ... they require it.
The Shadowman is an extremely unique creature. These beings have a unique skin abnormality that causes them to be both transparent and unresponsive when bathed in light.
Be very careful when you turn off the lights, and always look for giant out of place shadows before you do. These creatures have giant hands that they use to trap and crush their prey, allowing them to consume it over a period of days.
SHADOWFOX

The Shadowfox is likely to be the first Reptilian that you will encounter. These creatures act as a "screamer" or alarm system, to alert other members of the Reptilian family (presumably, a Hunter). They are jellyfish-like creatures that come in all shapes and sizes, and prefer to hide and wait.

Many things in ABDUCTION can be interacted with, held, thrown or utilized. However, some items have more importance than others, and serve a deeper purpose.
We've categorized the games inventory into the following categories: Consumables, General, Weapons and Crafting Materials. Innovate to discover new weapons, and stay on top of your supplies if you want to survive the night.

As a member of the community helping us fund our game, we want to protect your investment. This means, for a minimum of 1 year after purchase, the retail price will never drop below the crowdfunding price.
We have distribution agreements in place to protect you, but if one of our distributors somehow sells the game below value without our authorization, we will refund the difference.

Red Iron Labs is an indie game house that provides virtual reality entertainment to fans of the dark fantasy, horror and post-apocalyptic genres. Our priority is to make games that are story-driven, challenge the mainstream 'isms', and that will scare the crap out of all of us.

Q: Is Virtual Reality Required?
A: Nope! It's cool if you have a headset, but you definitely don't need one.
Q: What if I don't have VR?
A: We recommend a comfortable gamepad, but a mouse and keyboard will work fine.
Q: What if you don't get funded?
A: We have contingency plans in place, and will do more of the art in-house. This would mean a quality sacrifice.
Q: Is the Affiliate Program real?
A: You bet! We want to reward everyone who shares interest in our project.
RISKS & CHALLENGES

There are a ton of risks and challenges.
There have been many failed crowdfunding campaigns in the past, and many more campaigns that have under delivered. We opted to participate in 50 campaigns prior to launching this one, so we could develop a strong methodology of success for our campaigners. We feel the only way to overcome this, is to show how amazing we can be.
Failing to reach funding means we have less bite in the market. It becomes harder to convince third party agencies to share resources and invest time into our company for growth. And it makes it harder for us to push our title into new markets. For this reason, we've selected our initial target distribution platforms modestly, this way we can minimize the impact of failing to reach our funding goal.
Time slips are always a challenge. We have a strict project plan that involves critical moments of community engagement. This also means that some areas of the game need to be opened up for mods and modifications, to ensure the user community can continue to expand the content any way they see fit.
