Short Summary
The best night of their lives might become the worst night of their lives. When a last minute dress mishap threatens to ruin their perfect prom, three friends embark on a journey to turn flops into fashion.
This fast-paced story started as a drama, turned into a dramedy, and then blossomed into the full on comedy script it is today. This story was inspired by true events (those events being the car crash of a night that was writer Abby Rowland's prom) and is a ridiculous, touching, and laugh-out-loud glance into the minds of teenage girls. When you're eighteen, things like prom hold the utmost importance, and oh man, is it fun to look back on how seriously we took it. This film is for the adults who want to laugh fondly at their teenage selves, and remember what it feels like to put every ounce of your being into having the perfect dress.

Meet the Team

In casting According to Plan, Abby brought two of her wonderful fellow actors and friends (who she imagined playing these parts when she wrote them) on board. Rowland herself plays Mia, the victim of the film's dress mishap, while Tessa Grace plays Nora, the eager-to-please best friend, and Grace Pruitt portrays Aya, the sardonic get-to-the-point sidekick.

Rowland brought on Justin White as the DP, lighting designer, and editor (he's truly a cinematography jack of all trades) after meeting him while studying at the University of Southern California and watching in awe as he honed his skills in the filmmaking world.
Zoé Cantú joins the team as the sound engineer and will be composing and producing an all-original score!
After meeting the talented Alyssa Riha while cast in a production of Wait Until Dark at Torrance Theatre Company, Rowland signed her on as AC and behind-the-scenes photographer. Riha in turn introduced the adept 2nd AC Jake Kaufman to the team!

The incredible team on this film is donating their time to make it happen, but renting film equipment, gathering props and costumes, bringing a sound engineer on board to write a completely original score, and feeding the wonderful crew require a good budget. We are also aiming to submit to comedy film festivals come next year, and need your help to get those submission fees in! We're asking you to lend your support so we can share this story.
