My name is Lydia Baldwin, I am 18 years old and attend Midsomer Norton Sixth Form with hopes to attend university.

In July 2014 a group of sixth formers will travel to Kenya for what will be a trip of a lifetime. Our trip will be focused on voluntary work with community development projects there- primarily working with school children and heavily disadvantaged children in the area. Every year I watch things on television such as Comic Relief and see the amazing work that people do with people less beneficial than ourselves; so when the oppurtunity arose to go over and volunteer I jumped at the chance. Although we are a small group of teenagers just thinking about the impact we can make on these peoples lifes just by giving up our time really is moving and I am very enthusiastic to go over and do all I can.

There are different projects that we can involve ourselfs in whilst we are in Kenya, supporting children in class, helping with lunch and participating on after school clubs and activites and building work. We will also have the oppurtunity to travel in the local area  visiting a National Park, the Equator and an elephant orphanage.

The trip is being arranged through 'African Adventures'who describes themselves as follows; 'African Adventures is the UK's leading ethical travel organisation. We have on aim: to improve lives both in the UK and in Africa... providing disadvantaged communities with humanitarian support and, crucially, the resources they need to reach their goals.'

You can find further details via this link : http://www.african-adventures.co.uk/

I have to fund this trip myself and the total cost comes to over £2000 per person and this covers flights, accomadation costs, travel, visas and vacinations,

Whilst in Kenya we confont the vastly under priviliged lives many children in Africa face and helping to make a difference will I beleive be a life changing experience.

All sponsorship money raised will go towards the cost of the trip and will directly benefit young people here and in Africa.

Anything that you can donate will be greatly appreciated!! Thank you :)
