Growing up in a family full of tailors, I found my love for fashion through the eyes of my mother. She was a creative individual who was passionate about being a tailor. I moved to the United States with my two brothers in other to join our father. With my mother back in Togo, West Africa, I knew I had to make her proud. I began taking modeling classes and realized there weren't many opportunities for everyone.
This led me to think outside the box and take matters into my own hands. I wanted my voice to be heard and I wanted to create a platform that gives young people an opportunity to grow, to embrace themselves, and to be confident that they can achieve all that they wanted to in the industry.
I started teaching my peers what I have learned while attending a fashion school at John Roberts Power, and would put on fashion shows, for other Organization fundraising by using clothes that my mother made for me from Togo. Two years, right after graduating from high school, I started my brand Unique by Reelia in 2013. A wearable accessories brand, that I started making myself with $1.
I have been involved in various fashion shows, including international shows. In the midst of building my brand, I lost my mother, I worked hard to make sure my mother’s legacy can be reflects in my designs.
It is time for me to do something bigger. I am asking for your support for my first international fashion Show that I will be organizing in Farrara Italy, one of the biggest Fashion Capital in the world. I want to bring the celebration of diversity and give a platform to younger and uprising designer to showcase at this event.
I want to honor this opportunity not only for me, but also to empower other young women like myself, I believe everybody has a dream and to fulfill it you must keep on believe in yourself and that everything in this life is possible. Your generosity will be what makes this possible. THANK YOU!
