An original animated series made in Burkina Faso, that shares tales of African society through the eyes of five children and their passion for African games.
Five children of different backgrounds team up through games from African soil and use them to solve problems. In episode 2 of the series the friends regroup, and together adress the ritual of excision, a practice with dramatic consequences.

Africa and its values, its mysteries, its landscapes and its cultures...Africa, stage of traditions and customs with certain painful outcomes (excision, forced marriages, slavery…)
Afritenga, the world of AFROGAMES, is a nuanced futuristic blend of all these faces of the continent.

Your participation will allow us:
- to pay our team during the production and improve our technical set-up
- to spread distribution of the episode through national and international film festivals
- to present the know-how and practices of animators and artists of Burkina Faso
- to contribute to a recognition of the African culture.
Supporting AFROGAMES means the creation of about fifty jobs but essentially, it’s contributing to the beginning of an exciting animation industry in West Africa.
Who are we?
At ABCA (the burkinabe association of animated film) we are a team of many backgrounds. Students, artists, painters, filmmakers and technicians, all with a shared passion for animated film. Since 2009 our association is involved in the emergence of an animation industry, and thereby increasing employment.

The pilot episode of this series was developed and produced in a partnership with The Animation Workshop in Viborg, with additional support from the Danish Center for Culture and Development (CKU)

We are ready now to continue making our series at home in Ouagadougou (Burkina Faso), but
we can't do it without you! Your contributions will enable the continuing production of a quality series like no other.
Story of Episode 2
Mimi’s favorite aunt comes to town for a few days. But the joy of seeing her aunt again is darkened by painful memories. It was she who had been the one to save Mimi from being excised before they left the village for the city. At a game organized in the neighborhood, the children choose the occasion to evoke their friend’s experience, reaching out to the adults on the need to give up this practice.

Une série de dessin animé originale faite au Burkina Faso, qui raconte des histoires sur la société africaine à travers les yeux de cinq enfants et leur passion pour les jeux du terroir africain.

Histoire de l'épisode 2:
La tante préférée de Mimi vient passer quelques jours en ville. Mais la joie de revoir sa tante est ternie par de douloureux souvenirs. C’est celle-ci qui avait sauvé Mimi de l’excision avant leur départ du village pour la ville. Un jeu organisé au quartier est l’occasion pour les enfants d’évoquer l'expérience de leur amie, et de sensibiliser les adultes sur la nécessité d’abandonner cette pratique.
Soutenir AFROGAMES c'est permettre à cet épisode de prendre vie, et à la série de continuer! Mais aussi, c’est créer une cinquantaine d’emplois, et surtout, contribuer à la création d’un pôle économique du cinéma d’animation en Afrique noire.

Qui sommes nous?
Nous sommes une équipe de profils divers (étudiants, designer, artistes, peintres, réalisateurs, infographes…) ayant la passion commune du cinéma d’animation.
Créée depuis 2009 notre association (ABCA : association burkinabè du cinéma d’animation) a pour ambition la création d’une industrie du cinéma d’animation et donc la création d’emplois.
