Recording My First Album!
After spending the better half of 2013 touring Europe with Melody Gardot, I am going into the studio to record my first album as a bassist and bandleader, but I need your help to see this project through.
Who am I you ask?

Aidan Carroll: Passionate
musician since the age of 10 - bassist, composer, originally from Oklahoma, now
based in New York. I moved to New York in 2006 to study with John Patitucci, and have been working steadily on the music scene ever since. I have grown and developed so much as a person and artist here in NYC. Having met many musicians along the way, and arriving at a variety of opportunities in which to expand my musicianship, I’ve had the honor to
work such artists as Donald Fagen, Melody Gardot, Warren
Haynes, Fred Hersch, John Abercrombie, Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds, Aaron Goldberg, Greg
Hutchinson, Logan Richardson, Dan Tepfer and many more.
THE TIME IS NOW! After years as a sideman in other people's bands, as well as leading my own group in NYC, Brooklyn, and Oklahoma City, I am more ready than ever to record my music. My timeline, if all goes as planned, is to record this project and release it by Fall 2014.
MY GOAL as an artist recording my first album is to express myself as honestly as possible and release a musical statement that truly represents who I am. I want to share this result with friends, family, and peers, and reach people throughout the world.
CONCEPT:
I am bringing my
two working bands into the studio in late December to record compositions I have written over the past 4 years. This double band
concept has been a part of the vision from the beginning ever since I met this
unique group of musicians.
MY MUSIC
draws from the tradition of spirited Jazz improvisation, yet unites with influences from Soul music, Classical Impressionism, and Rock.
MY BAND includes these incredible world-class musicians:
John Ellis (Bilal, Ellis Marsalis, Charlie Hunter)
Sullivan Fortner (Roy Hargrove, Gary Bartz)
Joe Dyson (Dr. Lonnie Smith, Donald Harrison)
David Bryant (Steve Coleman, Marcus Strickland)
Justin Brown (Ambrose Akinmusire, Thundercat)
Logan Richardson (Jason Moran, Joe Chambers)
Christopher Turner (Esperanza Spalding, ERIMAJ)

Why do I need your help?
Well, quite frankly putting together a high quality album is expensive! Though I have saved as much as I can and will be putting my own funds, love, sweat, tears, and hard work into this album, I will need some assistance to complete this project in full.
RATHER than record this music and have to stop halfway through to ask for help (as most do), I am preparing for what lies ahead financially by asking now at the beginning of the process. I want you to know what goes into making an album and why I am seeking support up front >>>
