Hello, I am Alan Brown – in less than 100 days I could be elected as an SNP MP in the Kilmarnock and Loudoun area.
I was born August 12th in 1970 to Eric and Irene, and until 2007 I had stayed in Newmilns (in my constituency) my whole life. Since then, I’ve lived a bit further afield – in Galston, just three miles down the road.
An SNP voter all my life, and a member since the 90’s, I could not be more proud of the route my party has taken in the last few years.
I was elected as a councillor in the May 2007 elections which brought about the area’s first SNP-led council and the area’s first SNP MSP in Willie Coffey.
Since my election, I have served on numerous committees and was the Spokesperson for Planning in my first term, and have since been moved into the Cabinet on this term. It is having this considerable wealth of political experience at a relatively young age that makes me a good candidate for the area. That, and the fact I stand with the party that opposes Trident, Austerity and more. (Unlike Labour.)
Whilst my main rival Cathy Jamieson got a great personal vote in 2010 (one we of course were gutted about) I think it is time for people to give myself and the SNP a chance to represent the area in London.
At this General Election we need as many SNP MPs elected as possible – its the only way to really keep Scotland at the forefront of the political debate.
In order to do that we need to raise as much many as possible. You can help us in two ways. Firstly by contributing tothis fundraiser. Secondly by helping us to promote this campaign through Social Media. Please share on Facebook and Tweet and retweet it on Twitter. If we can get support from as many SNP supporters as possible we will meet our fundraiser target and help elect an SNP MP for Kilmarnock and Loudoun in 2015.
*Please note - if you are kind enough to donate more than £50 to my campaign, your name and address will be checked against the electoral register to ensure that you are eligible to donate. Your name, but not your address, will be made available by the council on request after the election. If you do donate this amount please do so via our perk!*
