Summary

We are a team of artists representing different art forms such as dance, music, photography, and digital design. We come from different places (Argentina, Ukraine, Spain, Malta, Mexico, USA) but we all live in Berlin. 

About This Project

We've been working on this project for nearly two years, gradually growing the team. It is called Aldeas, which means "Towns," in Spanish.

Aldeas is dedicated to the subject of identity and its complex, shifting nature. As we leave our families, home towns and move to different places, we absorb new influences, become part of new communities, develop new identities and become 'something else' - and in that, also become our new true selves.

Aldeas evolved as our own creative processes took us to new territories, e.g. our composer, Juan Pablo De Lucca, who came to Berlin as a traditional tango pianist is now working with electronic music. The latest technology of digital design allows us to work with photography and create a completely new way of animating still images, giving our traditional arts their own transformation. This makes this work profoundly personal, both as a subject and as a creative.

We want to share this experience with the audience because we believe that evolving identity is an essential part of life. We invite you, the audience, to contemplate with us as we give space for meditation and co-experiencing this idea.

What We Need & What You'll Get

We are seeking €7,000 to cover the production budget and to bring this performance to the stage in Berlin. The main components are:

• Rehearsal and performance space rental
• Lighting design and support 
• Production of film projection (based on data motion design)
• Scenography (e.g. LED screens for film projection integrated in stage design)

Who We Are

Our team spans many countries and creative disciplines. We are:

• Masha Gurina (Direction & choreography). Masha is an award-winning choreographer and dance artist of Ukrainian-British origin who now lives in Berlin. She created her own dance theatre works, short films and installations and directed movement scenes for several critically acclaimed drama productions - for one of which she was nominated for a national theatre prize in Ukraine.| Mashagurina.com
• Schmoo Theune (Visual art / scenography).  Schmoo is photographer from the USA documenting identity topics and the human experience. Her work has been featured in major international publications and galleries.  | Schmoo.co
• Yuriy Khomovsky (Visual art / scenography). Yuriy is a motion designer from Kyiv, Ukraine. Yuriy works in a brand design agency and pursues artistic projects in his spare time. He is particularly keen on developing new ideas for using digital technology and motion design for theatre and performance.
• Juan Pablo De Lucca (Original music), Composer, pianist and producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina, Juan is now touring with an acclaimed tango band, El Muro Tango and creating his second electronic music album. | Juanpablodelucca.com
• Maria Torrents (Dancer).  Born in Barcelona and trained in Institut del Teatre de Barcelona, Maria is a freelance dance artist teaching and performing internationally for film and dance works by established choreographers. | Mariatorrentssoler.com
• David Mariano (Dancer).  Born in Mexico, David is a versatile contemporary dancer who worked with various prominent companies in Mexico, USA, Spain and Germany and now lives in Berlin. ​He is interested in promoting the values ​​of empathy, hope and happiness through the movement of the body.| Davidmarianochaho.blogspot.com
• Sarah Vella (Dancer). Sarah is a dance artist, dance therapist and speech therapist originally from Malta. She works as a freelance dance artist and therapist in Berlin, Malta and abroad. • Sasha Vidakovic (Graphic Design). An award-winning graphic designer of Bosnian origin living in London where he runs his own design company. Sasha also lectures at the European Institute of Design and Milan and Conde Nast Fashion College, London. | SVIDesign.com
