You are reading this
because we share a similar love, the love of film. And its that passion which
brings us here, a glorious place where creative a-like can share their ideas to
the world in the hope that we can all chip in to make our visions a genuine reality.
When we first sat
down after a few years in the visual production circle, we realised it was time
to make our first film and had a few scripts and a couple concepts. All Day and
a Night was just a concept, an idea in Rob's head that needed moulding, shaping
and crafting into a script. Then after a short conversation with a great
writer, she was sold. What followed is what happens with so many intriguing
ideas; it spread like wild fire! Within a week we had a first draft, crew on
board and pre-production had begun, we knew we had made the right decision.
This idea quite simply had to be put on screen for the world to see.

All Day and A Night is the story of James Dyer. He is granted release from prison into the unfamiliar arms of his fully grown sister. Guilt ridden, the world around him feels strange. A differing reality to the confining bars of his ‘normal’. James is taken to a house only described as his home. To him it is not. He’s struggling. The burden of his mistakes weighs heavy on him as he is brought face to face with the raw and life altering consequences of his actions.
It takes a lot for a man to adjust to the lifestyle of prison,
especially when he is looking at a life-changing amount of years ahead of him.
Many will say prison life is hard, but few have ever asked the question ‘is it
harder facing the big wide world after spending so long within 4 walls?’
Among the mass of prison films, there is nothing that focuses on how an
inmate deals with life back on the outside. All Day and A Night shows a
contrast between the harsh reality of prison life, and the arguably even harsher
reality of fitting back in with society.
Through the eyes of James Dyer, we
experience just how hard it is to see faces that were once every day smiles,
how every day tasks become alien, and how hard it is to come face to face with
the mistakes that put him away for so long.
- Rob Vanderman, Director
James is a complex character, what’s engaging about him is his ability
to compartmentalise and yet it’s also this characteristic which
disassociates him from his new reality outside of the confinement of
prison.
What's so interesting and useful about British writing and British cinema is we’re less constricted by pace and action, so it’s easier to almost ‘real time’ a short film which for a project like this is great. It’s opening the doors to a kind of faux docudrama. Life in a fish bowl. James is essentially trading a physical cage for one of estrangement and we can get an insight into his experience whilst also feeling conflicted about what landed him in prison to begin with. Do we feel sympathetic to his situation?

Bringing an idea like this onto screen without using stick men and cardboard is quite obviously an expensive one, well, expensive to most of us. We secretly all hope for a stupendously rich film lover to have made it this far in our bio to think that these guys deserve a chance to make something great. But that’s not the case and the reality is that we need to convince the masses that we deserve your contribution, that contribution along with thousands more will make this campaign a reality. By the click of button, a two second distraction, you could make someone’s career by gracing them with the opportunity to make their film the way it should be, with no cutbacks.
So here’s the breakdown, we need £15,000 to
make this happen.
We have two filming Locations; London, England and
Aberdeen, Scotland, with four sites in total. We’re shooting across one weekend, smash and
grab! Your help will ensure that we can get the
Crew to every site and give them somewhere to rest there tired heads each night,
then the same treatment for our even more delicate Cast. To frame their pretty faces and capture the
vision of this story, the equipment we are using is of the highest industry
standard. Then we need all of our set design, styling,
hair & make up to make this vision come to life and finally, we need to
feed and water this bunch which will fill the remaining few hundred pounds.

We’re pulling in a mighty load of favours to
hit this total. If everyone was paid their normal rate, Cast & Crew, you
could easily double this budget. We have been lucky enough in our time to make a lot
of friends in this industry who share our passion for being creative, and making
a film that will turn heads, giving everyone the recognition they deserve,
before money even comes into it.
You've made it this far and we hope we've had an impact. You need to believe in us, and trust that we will put your donation to good use. Trust is earned, so you can count on us to constantly update this campaign as it grows and we will personally thank every donation that flies in! (along with the great perks on offer)
Please take a look at the rest
of the campaign and our perks to see how you can help, and what you can get in return.

So what happens after we’ve shot the film and edited to the final cut…? We intend to take
this to every Short Film festival we can, across the globe. Then the buzz we know it can create will send us swiftly
on to our next short!
Once the festival buzz dies down, we will be releasing the film worldwide, on as many platforms
as it allows us!

Here’s a little something about some of our
Crew members, we have just over 20 so here’s a handful of them for you to get a
feel of who is responsible for turning your donations into a film!
