The Founder
My name is Arezou Aghlara. I have PhD degree in food science and I am the founder and scientist behind RiboBlast. I came up with this idea 2 years ago while I was looking for a sports drink in the market to energize and recover. I was training martial arts everyday as well as yoga, swimming, running and weight training. I could not find anything in the market except the drinks loaded with sugar, caffeine and artificial colours, sweeteners and flavours. That was the moment I decided to change the way people hydrate and recover after exercise.
RiboBlast
RiboBlast is the first all-natural, low calorie, D-ribose based sports drink premix supplemented with vitamins and electrolytes in Canada, at only 10 calories per pack. Each pack in 500-ml water makes a drink with full, rich taste.

How does RiboBlast work?

Why do we need money?
In Sep 2014 we received approval from Health Canada and in Nov 2014, we had a mini trial run and sold out quickly and received good feedback from our consumers. So we decided to go for a commercial run. I used my saving and cashed my RRSP and in Sep 2015 we had our first commercial run of 2 flavours of RiboBlast (Valencia Orange and Saskatoon Berry). We are currently selling these two in some stores in Canada (www.riboblast.ca/stores). Since we had a good response from everyone we decided to add 2 more flavours (Persian Lime and Tropical Mango) and in Nov 2015 we received approval from Health Canada for the new flavours as well.
The quantity of our first commercial run was so small. It was below the minimum quantity required by our manufacturer. So it made the cost of goods a lot higher than the selling price. To be able to bring down the cost of goods we need to manufacture in larger quantity.
So our purpose for this campaign is to sell my current stock of RiboBlast (Valencia Orange and Saskatoon Berry) immediately (at discounted price, for orders through Indiegogo campaign only). Moreover, we would like to pre-sell some of the next production as well to be able to be able to make the next production as large volume as possible. All the pre-ordered items will be shipped starting mid Apr 2016.
The production will be in Mar 2016, REGARDLESS. If we can raise CA$60,000 in this campaign, we can manufacture in a larger volume. If we cannot reach this goal, I will still manufacture in Mar 2016 but the cost of goods will again be high for me. So, don't worry, you will definitely receive your order. But the cost of goods will be so expensive for me. That's OK, because...

Where does the money go?
We will be using this money towards purchasing more ingredients and manufacturing higher quantity. To manufacture a small quantity of the 4 flavours will cost us CA$20,000 and we can fund this. Each extra CA$20,000 will help us to buy more ingredients and increase the volume. And the best is to be able to raise CA$ 60,000 in this campaign to get to the minimum quantity required by our manufacturer.

Risks & Challenges
There is no challenge and risk in the second production. We have done it once successfully, so we can do it again. We are confident. The first two flavors are in the market. That's the proof that we can do it again successfully. We just need to do in a larger volume as well as adding 2 new flavors.
