Short Summary
AMANDLA EduFootball is an international Non-Profit Organisation that is based in South Africa and Germany. The organisation's mission is to create safe spaces that bring together the power of football and learning to empower youth and change lives. Our vision is a world where all young people access equal opportunities, strive to realise their full potential and dare to dream...
Recently we were given the opportunity to send a group of U17 boys to a local soccer tournament. We only had two days notice, but managed to bring some boys together and eventually win the tournament. You can read more about it here from the blog post one of our interns wrote.
We have always discussed having a travel team, but since we are working on a budget it is tough. After this tournament, it was the boys from the team who kept pushing us to keep the team together. They kept pushing, so we got together and put together a plan, and together we are working to acquire funds to keep them together. The boys and coaches are working in the community to acquire funds, and we are looking outside.
What We Need & What You Get
To have a consistent travel team we need to have funds to transport, house, feed and equip are players with appropriate gear. Because of this we set our goal at $5,000 US dollars, as we would like to make a travel team a more permanent part of AMANDLA's programs.
If you donate $25 you will get a shout out on one of our social media sites.
If you donate $100 you will get a Xhosa lesson from one of the U17 boys sent to you through youtube.
If you donate $500 dollars you will get a jersey signed of all the players sent to you.
The Impact
Our boys will get to stay together as a team and have the chance to play soccer/football outside of Khayelitsha. There are not many opportunities for kids from Khayelitsha to represent where they are from through sport. So this would give the boys an opportunity to play for their hometown.
Risks & Challenges
Our goal is to take the boys to a tournament in George, South Africa on July 25th. If we do not have the proper funds by then we will take the money we raised and take the boys to another tournament opportunity in South Africa.
