OUR MISSION:
The filmmaking team behind "AMARANTH" want to create a film that appeals to audiences of all ages, and brings to life something that has incredible meaning and can move people emotionally and resonate with an audience.
WHAT WE NEED:
We need your support to raise production funds totaling $65,000 in order to go to work and make this movie happen! That works includes:
- Shooting in the outskirts of rural Mississippi in order to capture the environmental essence of the post-apocalyptic environment.
- Securing marquee actors so that the film can be seen through bigger distribution platforms.
- To put some great people to work doing what they love and to keep indie filmmaking alive and viable.
FEATURE FILM summary
The year is 2025, in an isolated town known to it's residents as Amaranth. A monoplegic teen, Seth Ott, is in the process of finishing his mechanical leg brace built from spare parts in the hopes of regaining the ability to walk. When the town's leader tells the community they are running out of resources, Seth sees an opportunity to use his newfound mobility to help. As he embarks on his journey to save his town, Seth quickly finds out he is not alone as he crosses paths with J.J.; an emotionally disconnected drifter, scarred by years of loss and grief. Seth learns J.J. is pursued by a mysterious group of Raiders searching for something that was stolen from them. Through perilous obstacles, and harsh winter elements, their friendship grows stronger as they trek further into the unknown. Both Seth and J.J. are in search of something important. For Seth, its the resources his home so desperately needs to survive. For J.J., its redemption for a life full of pain and void of hope.
THE TEAM
Schoonmaker is a Filipino-American director, who will direct his first feature film with his team at Swanke Films. He has an eye for talent, and has been able to piece together a great team such as actors, producers, and essential crew members.
Ramos is a writer/producer for Swanke Films. Phillip received a B.A in Theatre at the University of Maryland. Phillip has a passion for film and music which provides him with the art of always having a story to tell.
Soto is a self-taught Filmmaker with a background in Finance. Her vision for putting projects together comes from years of experience with Independent as well as Studio projects.
Carnes has had Film and Televised appearances in Desperate Housewives, General Hospital, The Phantom, Letters to Iwo Jima & Doctor Who.
Graff has been featured in the lead role of Charles "Lucky" Luciano in AMC's documentary show, The Making of the Mob: New York
Humphires has served as a Tactical, Technical Advsior, Stunt Cordinator and Weapon's Trainer on major studio feature films directed by A-List filmmakers such as Ridley Scott, Michael Bay, Antoine Fuqua, Peter Berg, Jon Favreau, David Leitch/Chad Stahelski, Jerry Bruckheimer, and many more.
POST-PRODUCTION CREW
Dodson is an Austin based Film Editor, who In his young career, has cut numerous features and shorts, while also having the valuable experience of working with editorial crews on studio films such as, The Blind Side, We Bought a Zoo, & Saving Mr. Banks.
Elkjaer is a Los Angeles based composer and orchestrator, which music can be heard in several features, movie trailers and video game productions. He is further more working with composers such as five time Emmy winning composer, Jacob Groth (The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, Dead Man Down) and Golden Globe-nominated composer, Christopher Young (Spiderman 3, Swordfish, Hellraiser).
Juniper Post has over 300 films & TV shows completed since 1983, the Emmy winners at Juniper and has previously worked with filmmakers, James Cameron, Jared Hess, and many more.
