Short Summary
Hello,
My name is Luka Kiria. At present I live
in the Capital of Georgia Tbilisi. I am one of the foundators of the American
football here. I used to live in Russia for 15 years and went into football for
8 years there. I played in the Juvenile combined team of Russian Federation. I have
the statuses of a coach and a referee. As soon as my brother and I moved back
to Georgia, we found the American football federation and soon made the first
team without any necessary equipment for the players as we had no financial
support.
A year later, we held the first
interuniversity championship in flag football. 12 Universities took part in it.
For 4 years already we have been holding students’ league tournaments. One of
our teams “Tbilisi Crusaders” is already fully equipped. It had already played
twice with the American “Marines” and won both matches. After the “Crusaders”
we made another team “Tbilisi Grizzlies” which started training without any
equipment and is still training without it.
What We Need & What You Get
At present we need to establish the first League of the American
Football in Tbilisi. It is a must because otherwise we won’t get a legal avowal
of our Federation from the Ministry of Sports, which will not finance the preparation of the
combined team for the European championships.
(Our Federation is in EFAF. So we could easily take part in the
international championships). For
establishing the League we need 53 800 $.
The sum will be spent on the necessary equipment for the players and
other urgent necessities for 4 teams of the first Georgian league . Initially the
equipment for a hundred players will be enough for developing this magnificent
football in Georgia.
The list of the items needed for each player out of one hundred
players:
Football helmet - 100$
Football shoulder pads - 80$
Jerseys - 20$
Pants - 20$
Protective pads - 20$
Shipping to Georgia - 60 $
Total amount of money per player – 300$; accordingly 30 000$ for 100
players
20 balls – (50$ X 20) = 1000$
Reconstruction of the stadium - 10 000$
Training equipment for 4 teams – 6 000$
Additional training for the coaches and referees (8 people) in Turkey
– (600$ X 8) = 4 800$
Cup of League - 500$
If we are not able to get the above mentioned sum, the amount of money
we get will be spent on purchasing the
equipment because without it we cannot do anything. If we cannot get enough money
for establishing the League, we will not give up and do all we can because of
our great respect for this really masculine football. We have already done a
lot to promote it here and would greatly appreciate your help to develop it
further.
The Impact
This project is very important for the whole Georgia, as one of the
greatest sports will be promoted here.
It will give the young people a good chance of going in for their favorite
sport.
Each person who is willing to help us will contribute a lot to the
big-scale development of the American Football in Georgia, giving our country a
wonderful opportunity of joining the large family of this superb sport.
Risks & Challenges
The only risk for the project to fail is if we are not able to gather enough
number of people for the teams at the very starting point. But we have plural
reserve and many people who are interested in flag football among the students
willing to play the real football.
We understand that some people are not able to give us the financial
support but they can help us in some other ways such as promoting our
initiation or sharing their experience and knowledge in this field. We would appreciate
any help.
