Simply put, Ampere and Surge are our ways
to cater to the diversity of cyclists out there. Ampere is a Dutch style
step-through, propelled by a 350W rear hub motor; Surge is a 700c performance
hybrid, propelled by a 350W mid-drive motor.

charging and replacing simple and practical.

Ampere and Surge come equipped with adjustable stems, so that you can adjust them to suit your needs, whether you're a speedster or a casual rider.

and faster, too. With a 70 km range (45 miles), Ampere and Surge are equipped with pedal assist
to help you get from point A to Z. The 350W motor carries both Surge and Ampere at 32
km/h (20 mph), powered by a 36V high energy-density lithium-ion battery. Long distances
and challenging landscapes never seemed like a piece of cake!
Be in total control.
Ampere and Surge are equipped with a carefully designed thumb throttle and a 7-speed gear changer at your fingertips so that you can unleash and regulate power on demand. This is complemented with premium disc brakes on the front and rear wheels for Ampere and premium electric bike designed v-brakes on the front and rear wheels for Surge.

Surge and Ampere come equipped
with a LCD backlit display that indicates speed, distance traveled, motor
assistance level, battery voltage, and much more. Challenge yourself every time
you ride and beat your old record like a boss.

To ensure safety during night rides, Ampere and Surge come equipped with wirelessturn signal lights and laser illuminated lanes. The wireless controller is at your fingertips so that you can keep your hands on the bar instead of in the air. Ride with confidence knowing that you will be seen in the darkest conditions!

Risks and challenges
We have begun small batch manufacturing by leveraging our assets. We need your help to streamline our production and assembly process in order to increase production capacity; and this costs money. There are certainly challenges we may face during the streamlining phase of our project, after its been successfully funded. Fear not however, because our team has made several contingency plans for every roadblock on the way.
We have thought of every potential obstacle we may face so that you don’t have to. We are ready to face challenges that are thrown at us and we will give our 100% to follow through even when faced with the toughest of these challenges. Even if for some reason we cannot deliver, we promise to be completely transparent and keep our backers informed and up-to-date on our progress. The range of professional competencies and experience our team has under its belt will undoubtedly Shocke you into a believer!
What makes us different is that we have completed all our supplier sourcing and product testing in advance. We have completed the final prototype for both Surge and Ampere; there will be no need for changes for any aspect of our bikes. You can be assured that there will be no hiccups or events that will delay shipment.
The team at Shocke Bikes have the experience and know-how in order to fulfill our set timeline. We were able to deliver on our previous campaign on time and without any issues. All of our previous backers were ecstatic about their bicycles. and we are sure you will love your Surge and/or Ampere.

Will I get charged right away if I pledge now?
Yes. Contributors are charged at the time of the transaction.
Can I order multiples of Surge/Ampere or combinations of both?
Yes, to claim multiple perks, please make a separate transaction for each perk. Feel free to leave a comment about any perks you'd like to see on the page!
Which is the right bicycle for me? Surge or Ampere?
We created an info-graph in the campaign to help you decide.
My pledge level includes numerous items. When will they all be delivered?
Excluding the accessories, all first batch productions will be shipped in March/April 2016. Second production cycle will be shipped June/July 2016. Accessories will be sent with the second batch of production.
How do I know if I am in the first production cycle or second production cycle?
There will be a description on the reward letting you know whether you are in the first production cycle or second production cycle. We will also send you a message letting you know. It's first come first serve, so do not delay pledging!
How will you know where to send my stuff?
Your shipping information and address will be collected during the check-out process. If you need to upgrade your shipping address, please email support@indiegogo.com.
When will the product be on the market after the campaign is over?
Once we have shipped to all of our backers we will release the product to the public. We will accept pre-orders from public but our Indiegogo backers will receive the bikes first at the best price.
How easy is it to operate an electric bike?
If you know how to ride a bicycle, you will know how to ride an electric bike. It's that simple!
Buying and Shipping
What are the shipping costs?
For all orders within the US and Canada, shipping is $169 per bicycle. Ordering more than one bicycle may reduce shipping costs per bicycle.
When will my bike(s) arrive?
Excluding the accessories, all first batch productions will be shipped in March/April 2016. Second production cycle will be shipped June/July 2016.

Is there a warranty?
Shocke Bikes provides a 1 year warranty on Surge and Ampere that covers electrical and frame.
What is the recommended rider's height for Ampere?
Ampere is recommended for riders who are between 5'4" - 6'2".
What is the recommended rider's height for Surge?
Surge is recommended for riders who are between 5'6" - 6'4".
What is the rider weight limit?
Maximum recommended weight is 120kg (265lbs).
How much does Ampere and Surge weigh?
Approximately 21.5 kg (47.5 lbs) including the battery for both Surge and Ampere.
What about leaving Surge/Ampere out in the rain?
The motor and battery are adequately sealed from the rain, and are thus protected.
Do I need a license?
No. Surge and Ampere's motors are programmed to go no more than 32 km/hr (20 mph) on throttle mode alone (no pedaling), and therefore do not require a license to operate in Canada/ USA. Local bylaw may vary, so please check the bylaw before operation.
Do I have to pedal?
No.
Surge and Ampere can operate by simply applying the thumb throttle without
pedaling. However, in order to get exercise and extend the range of the
battery, we highly recommend that you pedal as well.
Can
I ride Surge/Ampere as a regular bicycle, without the electric power?
Yes, and it is very easy to switch back and forth. For example, you may
use the power only when you are going up hills and turn it off for level ground
and downhill riding to save battery power.
Is
the battery replaceable?
Most
definitely. The battery is very easy to take out and swap with a new one.
Does Surge and Ampere come assembled?
You
will receive your new Surge and Ampere 80% assembled. All you will need to do
is twist and tighten the handlebars, tighten the front wheel, plug in the seat
and pedals, and tighten them. The shipping container would be much larger (think of
the handlebars and pedals in place) with 100% assembly, so shipping the eBike
only 80% assembled allows us to cut costs and pass the savings to you. We will provide an installation and operation manual.
How
many charges can I get out of a battery?
Shocke
Bikes uses Samsung lithium-ion battery technology. Each battery will provide
approximately 1000 “full” charges. The battery has no memory effect, so if you
recharge the battery when it is only 50% depleted, that counts as only half a
charge. The amount of charges will also be impacted by factors such as
temperature.
What
is the range I can get from a single charge?
You
can expect about 45 miles (70 km) on a single charge for Surge or Ampere, and
often times you might go even further. If you only use the throttle, you can
expect Surge and Ampere to have a 22 miles (35 km) range. Range will also be impacted by
other factors, such as battery capacity, hills, wind resistance and your size.
