So, what is this all about and who the heck are these people?

AN HONEST THIEF is the story of three outcasts (Danny, Johnny and Carl) who plot to steal a Detroit pawnbroker’s (Honest Abe) cherished, incredibly valuable baseball card collection . . . and get a little more than they bargained for along the way. It is a thrilling, antic, dramatic tale full of exciting plot twists and memorable characters. 

Throughout the action, Danny is searching for one honest man; Johnny is searching for some meaning in his thieving vocation while desperately trying to satisfy a worried, yet devoted girlfriend; and Carl's searching for the perfect ride to the perfect score.   

Is there such as thing as An Honest Thief?

This film is the passion project of Tom and Aaron Sizemore, brothers who were born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. Tom proved his bona fides as one of Hollywood's most talented actors with diverse and compelling performances in the films Natural Born Killers, Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down, Heat, among many other star turns. Tom will play Danny St. Louis, the brash leader of the trio of thieves; Tom is also one of the film's producers. His brother, Aaron, wrote the screenplay and set the story in Detroit. Aaron has lived all of his life there and that familiarity allowed him to capture in "An Honest Thief" the grittiness, danger and unique flavor of his and his brother's hometown.  

Giorgio Serafini, a native of Belgium who cut his teeth and learned the art of directing in Italy, will direct "An Honest Thief." Giorgio has directed seven feature films and has worked with Dolph Lundgren, Wesley Snipes, Randy Couture, Vinnie Jones, Billie Zane, Aunjanue Ellis, among many others. He also directed what remains Italy's most successful TV series, Gente Di Mare. He has worked closely with Aaron Sizemore in honing "An Honest Thief." The director and writer have also discussed at length Giorgio's cinematic vision for the film, thereby developing a rapport that will prove invaluable when filming begins.

Tom, Aaron, and Giorgio are joined not only by Polimedia Films producers Charles Lago and Chris Johnson, but also Daniel Zirilli from PopArt Films. Daniel is a veteran producer, and also provides extensive experience as a director and writer. 

Charles Lago and Chris Johnson have successfully produced two highly acclaimed documentaries and Charles was a producer on the film Slumber Party Slaughter, which stars Ryan O'Neil, Tom Sizemore and David Carradine. Charles and Chris are currently working on the feature documentary Marine Wives, a film that follows the daily lives of six Marine Wives and their families while based at San Diego's Camp Pendleton. This documentary enjoys the full support of the United States Marine Corps.  

Daniel, Charles, and Chris have been working in the entertainment industry for years and know how to successfully finish the job!

Clearly, Tom Sizemore is the star of "An Honest Thief." Tom's brother wrote the story and set it in Detroit, their hometown. This film's central nervous system resides in the Motor City. Nonetheless, we are proud to have assembled an international team. Our director hails from Belgium and learned to direct in Italy. Producer Charles Lago is from Great Britain.  Our supporting cast includes an actor from Australia (the talented Mojean Aria) and Luxembourg (the equally gifted Roya Zargar). We are also proud to bring to the screen Steve Smith, the lead singer from Dirty Vegas. We believe this international, diverse group of highly motivated, talented people will help elevate "An Honest Thief" into a film with global appeal. To that end, we hope to similarly elevate Detroit and its rich history.

• Malik Barnhardt (8 Mile, FiveThirteen,  Woman Thou Art Loosed);
• Mojean Aria (Bronx Bull, Cross Life, Aban and Khorshid);
  
• Roya Zargar (Flawless, Lady Blood)
• Anthony Del Negro (Dark Haul, which is soon to be seen on SyFy network, On the Wing);
• Michael Kaycheck (Party Monster, The Good Wife, Law and Order: SVU)

The grave socioeconomic problems currently plaguing Detroit are well chronicled, but WE believe in this city. Detroit's history of success will come full circle. It will rise again. We hope to help in that resurgence and feel privileged to assist.  

Detroit is one of our country's most important cities. Although currently experiencing significant challenges, it is a proud city and for good reason. We not only believe its revitalization is integral to the health of Michigan and the country, but the Sizemore brothers are incredibly proud to bring their first professional collaboration to their hometown. 

In that spirit, almost 80% of this film's production costs will be spent in Detroit. 

This will help bolster the local economy and assist a still proud city's people in some measure. We also hope that we can lift the spirits of all Detroiters and that others in the film industry will continue to bring their productions to the city. This is not just about creating an incredible film. It is also about contributing to Detroit's economy and proving that the arts CAN and WILL continue to find a home there!

With your help, we will be ready to come together and create a captivating film while contributing to the economy of one of America's greatest cities. That is an honorable endeavor! 

The movie making business is very expensive, especially when a production moves outside of Hollywood. We need to get the principal actors and crew to Detroit. We need to cover the costs of flights, hotels, and food throughout the month-long shooting process. We will also hire LOCAL crew as well as LOCAL supporting actors and extras. We will fairly compensate EVERYONE -- from production assistants to the stars of the film. We need to hire security and police, obtain permits and engage local vendors to supply equipment and food. All of these expenses fall under "talent" -- the stars are not the only talent we need to get the best shot! We want and need you to get a great shot as well.

Then, of course, there are basic expenses like camera and sound equipment, trailer rentals, and other logistics. "An Honest Thief" is a heist film. There are car chases, shoot outs, robberies, and action sequences. Our story also requires us to blow up a car on the streets of Detroit! Finally, we need to make sure that the footage we capture is ready for the screen. The "Post Production" process is also where your money is going, all of which will be completed in Detroit. With your help, we are confident we will deliver a first class film. The Sizemore brothers want to make their hometown proud. In collaboration with you, they hope to share that collective sense of pride in a worthy job well done. A heist that only does good. Oddly, that is what our honest thieves achieve. Join our team.
