What's This All About?
Vampa Del'Ombra is the alter ego of me, Mara Powell. I am an independent writer/director/actor from St. Clair Shores, MI with a passion for filmmaking, storytelling and style. As Vampa, I've made two short horror-comedy films, "Cannabis Cannibals" and "Murder Pool" and now, I'm looking to complete a third, "An Occasion of Sin" which will round out a trilogy I call "Vampa's Visions".
"An Occasion of Sin" is adapted from a short I originally wrote 20 years ago. Like it's author, it's undergone many changes over these past two decades, but the heart remains the same. This would be my most ambitious film to date, and having the experience of the last two shorts, I think myself and my crew are ready to give this short the care I think it deserves.
My 3rd short, this is only the springboard to my filmmaking endeavors and your contributions will help me achieve what I know will be my best one yet!
I Don't Want Sumthin' for Nuthin'!
Bluntly, I estimate that I would need about $900. This would pay for essentials to make this specific film, like:
- car rental
- props
- costumes
- gore FX (this is a horror story!)
- extra would go towards entering the movie into film festivals
For your hard-earned cash, you'll get all sorts of cool exclusives! These, based on your pledge, range from:
- Special thanks in the credits
- Access to a special Playlist with music that inspired the script
- Exclusive BTS footage and stills
- Downloads to both "Cannabis Cannibals" & "Murder Pool"
- First access to viewing "An Occasion of Sin" as soon as it's completed
- Mini movie posters
- Exclusive Vampa's Visions tee
- My eternal gratitude
Even if the goal isn't met, any and all funds raised will go directly to towards funding this project.
Risks & Challenges
Making any movie is a risk and a challenge in of itself. Even the best laid plans can sometimes go awry. Anything can go wrong and sometimes the days on set don't go exactly as they were supposed to. Things can end up taking a lot longer than intended. The past two movies I made proved this true. However, that didn't stop us and those movies were still completed.
Of course, this time, the overarching risks and challenges are also due to Covid-19. I don't intend on doing anything unsafe, or taking any unnecessary health risks.
Other Ways You Can Help
If you don't have the cash to give, hey, I get it. But please know that your kind words of support to me, your likes on my social media posts, or your thumbs up and comments on my YouTube videos are legit contributions to this project! Also, sharing this project on social media and letting all of your rich relatives and friends know about it would be awesome, too.
