We released a preview of the new album!
Check it out:
Hi! We are about to step into the studio to record a new album, and we need your help!
We are Andy Suzuki & The Method — Andy, Kozza, and Jason G — a singer-songwriter, folk/rock/blues band based in NYC. We have been together since 2006, writing, recording, and touring. We’ve had the honor of performing at major US Festivals (SXSW, Voodoo, Common Grounds, CMJ), been reviewed by NPR and Time Out New York, and recently returned from a 3-week, international tour in southeast Asia!

In the past 10 months we have dedicated all our energy, hard work and experience towards creating our new album. It’s 11 original songs we’ve written, arranged, orchestrated, and rehearsed since March 2012. After months and months of marathon songwriting sessions, long nights of rehearsals, and auditioning dozens and dozens of musicians, producers and engineers, we’re finally ready to take our world-class team to the studio to bring the music to the next level.
This is the album that will define our music careers. It is the best music we have ever made by leaps and bounds, and with your contribution, we can share it with the world.
This is your chance to be part of Andy Suzuki & The Method.
How much? And why should I donate?
For this new album, we have put together a world-class team of award-winning producers, musicians (a 7-piece band and string quartet), and top-of-the-line audio engineers that will bring the absolute best out of our new songs. We also have a stellar creative team that’s designing the album art and packaging.
All of the fees add up very quickly, and after some number-crunching, we have calculated that everything will cost $44,000. Here is the breakdown:
Renting the studio - $8,500
Producer - $8,000
Musicians (7 piece band + string quartet) - $13,000
Sound Engineer - $4,500
Mixing - $4,000
Mastering - $1,500
Album Art & CD Production - $4,500
----------------
Total: $44,000
We have all kinds of great perks to incentivize you to contribute. You are making this album possible, and you deserve to be rewarded! There are different tiers of giving: the more you give, the more you get! Some awesome perks include being mentioned in the liner notes, being invited to a thank you private concert and party, and free attendance to Andy Suzuki & The Method shows for you and a friend...for life.
You can find more detailed information about contribution perks in the right-hand column on our indiegogo campaign page. Some of the incentives are limited, and first-come-first-serve, so please, contribute early and often.
In addition to the perks you receive for contributing to our new album, we will also donate a portion of every contribution to the Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation in honor of Andy’s dad, Yutaka Suzuki, who passed away from Alzheimer’s Disease in 2011.
But what does your music sound like?
One of the most exciting parts about making this new album is that—however cheesy this sounds—we feel like we’ve finally found our sound and artistic voice as a band. It lies somewhere in between folk, pop, and blues, and it’s awesome. But don’t take our word for it...Help us make this album possible so you can see for yourself.
To get a sense of where we’re coming from musically, you can find our old albums on iTunes, Spotify, Pandora, or anywhere else you like to listen to music. If you’re really keen to hear our new music before it’s released, you can find some of our new material floating around on our YouTube channel → http://youtube.com/andysuzukimusic.
What are your “Stretch Targets?”
$44,000 will cover the costs to get this album into your hands. If you help us get to this goal, we will be forever grateful. Without a record label, however, there are other necessary expenses that we have to cover ourselves. These are expenses that, while not directly related to the music itself, will help get this album to as many ears as possible, and hopefully let us continue to make great music for many years to come. These include:
- hiring a publicist
- making a music video
- putting together a tour (US & International)
We will be rewarding both our earliest and our most-generous backers at every stretch target we reach. Each target we reach will unlock a new set of perks and rewards for our contributors. Being one of these early contributors will increase your likelihood of getting perks like being invited to appear in our next music video, where you’ll get to hang out with us and our friends! (Our last music video looked like this and was the best night ever, so trust me, you want us to reach our stretch goals: http://youtu.be/8n1JvVH75RU)
How can I help in other ways?
Whether or not you contribute financially, we would really appreciate your help in spreading the word about our indiegogo campaign. Tell your friends about our campaign through facebook, twitter, and email! Do you know some people who love being part of projects like this? Send it their way! Do you know a millionaire who has a soft spot for half-Japanese people? Send it their way!
