The Project
The plan is to develop a fully articulated animatronic macaw to be used in a number of applications from avian research to a welcoming display in a restaurant or shopping center and also to be made available for anyone to buy.
The rig will include the following features:
-Full eyelid movements, using technology already proven in some of my other work.
-Beak control with 2 axis movements,
-Full head control with dynamic compliance features of the body movements
-Walk along its perch
-Talking with synchronized movements
-Realfeel fabrication to look like a real macaw
The Perks
With each selected perk we will give away selection of downloads of the original project files from the ground up.
Disclaimer
Many of the parts will require some level of skill and patience to assemble.
Supporting documents will be provided with each downloaded section to help aid assembly.
Please be aware that other components such as bearings, servos, etc will be required to complete the full kit and are not supplied in the pledges unless specified.
A full list of the components used will be published with each download.

MEET YOUR INDUSTRY PARTNER..
As a mechanical engineer i design mechanisms and structures for high-end animatronics. With a strong background in 3D Art and 3D Modelling, as well as Physical Modelling, Mechanical design, and illustration.
I am also responsible for all rough conceptual designs, creative problem solving, 2D and 3D mechanical design, designing mechanical animations within organic envelopes, reverse engineering using 2D artwork and 3D character models, multiple iteration prototyping and component assembly.

Risks and challenges
I would like to remain completely transparent about what I envision for this project and so im making sure I cover every aspect of what could go wrong early on or near completion.
I have been working with 3D printing for a number of years and even more years in animatronics. I have had all sorts of things go wrong on and off set and so being prepared is something I am very used to.
Regarding the techniques and technology used throughout this project (all of which has been self taught but with excellent support from industry expert who also share the same passion for what we do) I have total confidence in the processes and procedures I need to undergo in order to achieve my goal.
Being involved in Animatronics has taught me a lot. Not only does it involve mechanical designing, electrical engineering, silicone and resin moulding and casting (if required), CAD, Mockup testing and fabrication, painting, hair punching, masking, cleanup, and more importantly health and safety, but also researching nature and learning how it all works is something i find very fascinating.
Other Ways You Can Help
Some people just can't contribute, but that doesn't matter. You can still be apart of this by sharing the project.
One day you may walk into a themed restaurant or shopping centre and see the macaw and you'll be able to say, i helped bring this thing to life!

Product Replication
We have made every effort to model the products as accurately as possible. However, different 3d printer settings may greatly affect the models. The designer cannot be held responsible for any settings you use and cannot guarantee that your 3d prints of any product meet the correct standards to achieve the best use of the product.
Print settings used by the designer for the prototype:
Machine: Cel Robox
Material: ABS
Bed Temp: 110ºc
Nozzle Temp: 230ºc
Nozzle: 0.3mm
