Hi and welcome to Anisah's new wheels!

This page is run by a collection of Anisah's friends, all willing and planning to do crazy challenges to raise money for our beloved warrior.

Ideally we would like to raise £1500. Unfortunately we can't change the goal!

Anisah is 23 years old and suffers with severe crohn's disease. This is her story.

Anisah's Story

Ani was first diagnosed with Crohn's Disease at the age of 14. Due to her severe symptoms and complete intolerance for food, she lost an incredible amount of weight, dropping to a size small enough to fit her elbows into her pelvic sockets. She was unable to retain even water and the pain was both excruciating and constant. As a result, she experienced many stages of not eating at all, causing awful shakes and further weight loss, and eventually resorted to eating through an N.G tube down her nose.

Constantly on and off steriods, she stopped looking like herself and found that she was no longer able to laugh or even smile. Ani realised that she had lost herself through her illness, which causes her white blood cells to attack her immune system. Refusing to be stopped by her illness, she continued pushing on and attended college even when she couldn't walk. There were many dark days along the way, but she refused to stay down.

4 surgeries later, she's lost her large intestine and even had a Stoma bag for a while. Unfortunately, this caused kidney failure and the dr's were only just able to operate in time. She has tried many trial medications, but her gut is still not able to function normally and her stomach is now traumatised. Far from cured, Ani is still unable to eat, running out of medication options and is constantly being suggested complicated surgeries with no guarantees of improving her condition.

In the face of all this pain, Anisah is still one of the brightest and bravest people we know. Her constant fight to keep going, and her unforgettable awareness of the people around her, Ani spends a lot of time fundraising for Crohn's and Colitis UK and spreading hope to the lonely, struggling and hopeless of her hospitals.

At the moment, Ani's main method of contuining to live as normal a life as possible is with the help of people around her and the use of wheelchair. Sadly, the wheelchair she is much outdated and not well suited to her needs. As the shining star of our lives, and someone who is always thinking of the needs of others, we feel it is about time that we all gave something back. A new wheelchair would mean a whole world of independance for Ani, and the ability to involve herself in a normal young life.

What We Need & What You Get

At the moment, Ani's main method of continuing to live as normal a life as possible is with the help of people around her and the use of a wheelchair. Sadly, the wheelchair she currently has much outdated and not well suited to her needs. As the shining star of our lives, and someone who is always thinking of the needs of others, we feel it is about time that we all gave something back. A new wheelchair would mean a whole world of independence for Ani, and the ability to involve herself in a normal young life.

We are aiming at £500 for a customised wheelchair for Anisah that would fit her needs as a Crohns sufferer. If we do not reach our entire goal, we will simply begin again with another campaign until we get our gem her freedom! With new wheels, we could take Anisah on days out, go shopping, go back to education, spend more time out with her family and make up for all her youth lost to hospital beds.

What We Are Doing To Raise Money

Make sure to keep an eye on this section, as well as the links at bottom of the page, as we try to get more people involved in fund raising.

  • Kit will be facing her horrendous fear of heights and bungee jumping on Sunday 09/02/14!

Other Ways You Can Help

If you can't afford to contribute (or even if you can) don't worry there's plenty more to do! Our main focus at the moment is to spread the word about our cause. We will be uploading YouTube videos detailing our adventures to raise money, writing blogs and posting to Facebook. If you're feeling super charitable, you can also arrange to do something crazy like the people above to raise money, feel free to contact us about that! Please spread the word, and share all of the below links to help us reach our goal! The more people know about our warrior, the more freedom she will gain!
