Even the most organised, conscientious person can have their day, week, or month unexpectedly derailed by mental illness.
The consequences can be minor; a missed appointment, an upset friend, unimpressed employer. But sometimes they are far worse. Think of a loving mother, who despite her best efforts, cannot leave the house to buy groceries to cook dinner. Maybe you just need to get a few small things done, but your anxiety has you stuck in a fog. It's frustrating, you know your illness won't have a hold on you forever, but right now, you are helpless.
That's where we come in.
My vision is to create an online network of volunteers, to help with any task, big or small, so that life doesn't fall apart. Think of it as a on call task service, provided by locals in your area.
The difference is the task can be something very simple, like feeding your dog who has been patiently waiting for you to feel better, help with finishing those references on your assignment that was due yesterday, picking up an item from the shops. Members can post a task on the angels job board, and a registered angel in their area, can accept. Angels are volunteers who share my passion for helping the community, and helping people with mental illness get on with their day.
No judgement, just support and understanding.
Where the task involves transportation or other costs, the member and the angel can agree upon a reasonable service fee.
As a not for profit, Anxiety Angels aims to help all members of the community who need a helping hand, without wanting to announce that they are having a particularly bad day.
The goal is to take away the stress, guilt, and burden of the unintended consequences of the symptoms of mental illness. Even the simplest of tasks can be tremendously difficult. Imagine if you had someone around the corner from you, to get you over that hurdle so you can focus on what care about? We are not alone, and there are many people who care.
If you support my vision, please help me to raise the necessary funding to set up my website, source a network of volunteers, and develop an effective platform for members to access anonymously, help me to change what living with mental illness looks like.
There is no longer a need to struggle with unproductive days, angels who care, like you and me are ready to help.
Thank you
Jennifer
