Cat necklace for Syrian Cats Part II
Our first campaign in 2020 was such a success that we are duplicating it! Thanks to everyone who contributed we were able to donate $2,238 to Ernesto's Sanctuary.
This campaign is a partnership between Katie Miranda Al Ali and Ernesto's Sanctuary for Syrian Cats. Katie has designed a rhodium-plated sterling silver necklace with pink sapphires which says "cat" or قط in Arabic. The pink sapphires are in place of the two dots on the Arabic letter ق. We also think they make pretty cute cat "ears." The chain is 18 inches or 46 cm long.
Ernesto's Sanctuary has recently purchased a new, larger plot of land and the team has been working hard on converting it to an animal sanctuary. The funds from this campaign will help in that effort as well as to pay for cat food and veterinary care for the animals. Please read more about their story here.
We aim to sell a minimum of 40 cat necklaces for $131 with the profit going to Ernesto's Sanctuary.
The costs to make one necklace include:
materials (sapphires, chain, pendant, shipping costs)
+
labor (design, casting, stone setting, enameling, and production)
= $79.
That leaves $52 per necklace that will be sent to Ernesto's Sanctuary. We hope to raise a total of $2080 for the Sanctuary if we sell at least 40 necklaces.
The math: $79 for materials/labor/production x 40 necklaces = $3160.
40 necklaces x $131/necklace = $5240.
$5240 - $3160 = $2080 profit to Ernesto's.
What We Need & What You Get
We are hoping to raise a minimum of $5240 by September 29th 2022 to fund the production of these necklaces. Once we have the funds, it will take approximately 6-8 weeks to produce the necklaces. The silver caster that Katie works with has a 40-piece minimum so we need to sell at least 40 necklaces in order to place the order with the caster.
You will receive a rhodium-plated, sterling silver "lovecat" necklace with pink sapphires shipped directly to you.
Even if we have reached our fundraising goal of $5240, you can still pledge $131 to receive a necklace if our campaign is still running.
The Impact
$2080 will cover dry cat food for 900 cats at Ernesto's Sanctuary for a month and a half.
Risks & Challenges
Our biggest risk is not getting enough pre-sales through IndieGogo. If we do not get at least 40 orders, we cannot complete the project. We hope that fans of Ernesto's Sanctuary will love this idea and will share it on social media.
Timeline
Production will take approximately 2 months and will start after we reach our goal. Your necklaces will be shipped to the address you include with your donation in time for the holidays.
