So what is Arjun about you ask?
Arjun is the tail of an ordinary Indian man, Rohit, who lives a mundane and routine life. Until one day Rohit prays to the Blood Red moon. What ensues is a magical journey of self realization, extraordinary discovery and true friendship.
Arjun is a story that has dwelled inside me for years. I never had the courage to write it until I shared my vision with Lindsey Warm, who instantly fell in love with the idea. One of Lindsey’s writing philosophies; “I write to meet people and to connect with others who I might never have had contact with otherwise. Writing is about connecting. Connecting with humanity and culture.”
A Note from Writer, Lindsey Warm
Arjun gave Sonny and I the creative freedom to write magical realism. I’ve always been fascinated by the Hindu religion and the Indian culture. This gave me the opportunity to dive even deeper into my curiosity and knowledge of such a beautiful culture. Sonny and I have been working on this script for quite some time now and we truly believe it's one of those projects that can take the film festival circuit by storm. Arjun has all the elements of a powerful story that is sure to resonate with all generations. Arjun showcases the ever-present light and darkness of humanity. The film has many important lessons and intentionally leaves room for each audience member to form their own interpretation. I am honored and humbled to be on this movie making journey with Sonny.
A Note from Director, Brandon Taylor
What Sonny and Lindsey have written is an absolutely spectacular (and rare) blend of mysticism and realism that converges with the contemporary. It is been a joy to work along side of them to become informed and educated ; to become enamored with the culture and characters written. Truly, my favorite part of directing is being able to dive deep into the material, to understand, to relish, and to come out on the other side with new viewpoints, opinions and energies. Arjun, make no mistake, has lived up to these expectations.
Everyone working in this industry -- no matter what role they take -- will tell you how difficult it is get a project made. I believe that our project, Arjun, is a story that needs to be told -- a story that brings culture and creativity and originality to a industry that has become a repetitive series of remakes, continuations and remixes. Indeed, Arjun will stand out above the rest and satiate the thrist for adventure that you've been promised so many times before.
WHAT WE NEED
Our target goal is $55k to get the film worthy of local and international film festivals. This process will hopefully attract a producer that will help turn our short film into a feature length film.
As contributors we have a perk system set up so everyone can feel involved as a group, helping our dream come to life.
Our $55k will go directly towards:
- Production Crew -- from our talent, director, DP, and so many more!
- Equipment, Art, Costumes, Travel, and Catering
- Post Production -- editorial, coloring, scoring, mixing
- Marketing and release -- festival costs, websites, and creating a DCP!
Arjun is a very important story for all three of us to tell. Not only because the film blends both the Indian and American cultures together, but it has given us the opportunity to create a film that shows Indian people in a positive light, while simultaneously fighting preconceived stereotypes. Arjun was written with the intent to immerse and educate the audience in the resplendent beauty and richness that is the Indian culture and will be shot, edited and released accordingly.
