We are the Association for the Preservation of the European Work of Dr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferrière, a non-profit organization comprised of volunteers. Since 1981 we have dedicated our efforts in continuing and disseminating the humanitarian work and avant-garde thought of De la Ferrière in the realms of art, science, philosophy and education. 

What is it about?

From June 11 – 22, 2016, we will be holding various activities in Nice (France) and Trieste (Italy) in honour of the 100-year anniversary of the birth of our founder, the French thinkerDr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferrière. Among the activities that we will be holding both in France and Italy is the art exhibit: East and West in the Works of Dr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferrière where a sample of De la Ferrière‘s art works will be presented. The sociological and anthropological value of the art works from this thinker who sought to unite the human experience in the evolution of history as well as the human experience of the different regions and traditions in the world, gives way to a sense of union and intercultural rapprochement, based on tolerance by means of understanding and the study of ancient and modern legacies and identities within the distinct cultures. He has defined pieces representing the East and the West, each with its own anthropological and socio-cultural particularities, promoting a self-cultivation, education and realization, penetrating into multiple concepts and symbols of both the past and present.

In addition, we will be organizing lectures, symposiums and workshops exploring De la Ferrière’s vision expressed not only in his paintings but also in his 100 literary works extending to topics in science, philosophy and education. We will as well be exploring other avant-garde humanitarian artists, scientists and thinkers.

We are currently facing the reality that in the areas in which we are holding these events, there are not many art and culture subsidies. We still haven’t reached the amount of money to cover our basic expenses and we need your help whether it be monetary or even with your time, in order to organize these events. 

Why and for what reason do we organize the event?

In harmony with the activities of the 100-year anniversary of our founder, we want to organize various activities promoting a greater and more profound understanding between different peoples, cultures, ideals, etc. in order to work towards a more tolerant and thus peaceful society. This is being done in various cities of the Americas but now we wish to take this to the European countries where our organization is located (in France and Italy) as a culmination of our activities.

Hence, activities such as the art exhibit East and West in the Works of Dr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferrière and the lecture The Union of Science and Art, a Basis for Tolerance will work towards these objectives through diverse mediums, whether it be within the realms of art, science, philosophy or didactics. In addition, the vanguard and humanitarian thought of other contemporary artists, scientists and thinkers will be disseminated.

The effect

The aforementioned activities will work in favor of a greater tolerance between different people, cultures, ideals, etc. through a greater understanding and active cooperation. The exhibits, lectures, symposiums, children workshops, etc. are both specific and broad in scope, and have precisely been organized in this way in order to meet the objectives of an interdisciplinary and intercultural tolerance, rapprochement and understanding.

It is by means of this synthesis and universal approach that the Association for the Preservation of the European Work of Dr. Serge Raynaud de la Ferrière improves the quality of our societies within the realms of science, art, philosophy and didactics. We seek to strengthen our cooperation and social projection with institutions that work in favour of social wellbeing such as UNESCO within the 18 countries where we are currently more active, primarily in Latin America.

Key volunteer members of our sister foundations will be present, foundations that as well work at both the grassroots and governmental level. These foundations include: The E.L.I.C. Foundation (Free Schools of Scientific Research for Children), The F.I.S.S. Foundation (International Federation of Scientific Societies), The INVESCIENCIAS Foundation (Research Institute of Scientific and Technological Applications) and the Magna Fraternitas Universalis Foundation. These foundations continually organize cultural, educational, artistic and scientific activities for the development and evolution of human wellbeing whether it be in children, youth or adults. Among these continual activities we find the World Conferences for Childhood Talent and the World Conferences of Scientific Youth which take place every two years in Latin America.

How can you support us?

With your donations, we would be able to finance the following:

• Event Locations – rental of rooms and lecture halls where the events will take place

• Materials – expenses of printing the materials and encasing the works

• Transportation – transportation of art materials and personnel

• Promotion – flyers, pamphlets, posters, social media and radio ads

• Inviting local and international artists– explore the possibilities of subsidizing the travel expenses of certain artists from Europe and/or the Americas to participate in the event to present musical pieces, lectures, etc.
