SPAMALOT

Book and Lyrics by Eric Idle

Music by John Du Prez and Eric Idle

Ready to look on the bright side of life? Based on the iconic 1975 film Monty Python and the Holy Grail, our spin on Eric Idle’s Spamalot retells the legend of King Arthur and her Knights of the Round Table as they seek the Holy Grail.  Featuring a bevy of show-stopping numbers, cows, killer rabbits, crude French puppets, and many shenanigans, this show is sure to be an unforgettable quest! Help us create this ridiculous, playful, and witty musical.

WHO WE ARE

Arts Alliance is the oldest and largest student arts group at Northwestern University, a school renowned for its breadth of undergraduate-produced programming. Founded by a collection of groups looking to share space, Arts Alliance has grown to become one of the largest student arts organizations in the country. Its annual season consists of three mainstage productions and the management of three Satellite groups: Thunk A Cappella, Graffiti Dancers, and Mee-Ow Improv & Sketch Comedy. The Arts Alliance Executive Board consists of fifteen members from all types of educational backgrounds committed to bringing accessible, entertaining theatrical experiences to the Northwestern and Evanston communities.

The Fall McCormick is Arts Alliance's largest venue of the season and most widely engaging production process. As one of the first shows new students can work on both artistically and administratively, the Fall McCormick is electrifying and challenging for everyone on the team.

HOW YOUR DONATION HELPS

Involvement in student-run organizations is a main part of our education at Northwestern, and student-produced theatre is no different! As college students, we rely heavily on the donations from our friends and family to have a fulfilling experience making art. Your donation will go towards major design elements, including:

Set: Senior Nikolaj Sorensen has designed a dazzling set that includes a Medieval style bridge with hidden windows and quirky doors, as well as a large projection screen. The set opens outward like a story book, including the audience in the fun and play.

Costumes: Senior Caitlin Medina is leading the charge towards an eclectic and creative set of costume pieces for the ensemble, as well as the Lady of the Lake. The knights, with iconic noble garb, will balance out the rest of the cast to create a wonderful mixture of costumes, illuminating each iconic character.

Lights: Junior Alec Wrubel's design will illuminate every actor and design element, but also establish the world of the show. With the light set strategically in many locations across stage, the lighting will adjust often to bring all of these places to life in the world of the show. Lighting design will create the magical and heightened elements of this production, being flashy when necessary.

Hair/Make-up: Sophomore Andrew Restieri is taking on the hair and make-up domain and using his extraordinary skills to transform our actors into stately characters. Keep an eye out for Andrew's special transformation of Eli Newell into the lovely Lady of the Lake.
