"You were one in a million" -- Travis Barker
In the final hours of this campaign, DJ AM's close friend and collaborator Travis Barker has generously donated one of his signed signature drum kits!
The complete OCDP 5 Piece Confetti Sparkle Travis Barker Signature Drum Kit includes 6 Zildjiam Cymbals, 9 DW stands, DW pedal and DW throne. The kit is brand new. Travis has played the cymbals live and in the studio.
The TRV$DJAM collaboration was unlike any other, merging the DJ and Drummer at the top of their games, who mixed genres that had no business being in the same room, and creating an entirely new genre in the process.
AM and Travis came through the fire together (literally) and this reward really is invaluable!
Get inspired!

The funds raised from your generosity and enthusiasm will allow us to finish the film and bring it to the world. DJ AM was the king of club culture.
Growing
up in Philly, a broad variety of genres influenced AM’s musical tastes, and
he wasn’t shy about mixing every single one of them – hip hop, rock, funk, metal,
you name it – into his sets and legendary mash-ups, bringing people together on the dance floor to celebrate the power of music. Outside the club, AM (aka Adam Michael Goldstein) devoted his life to helping others in recovery, having been an early victim of substance abuse, himself.
AM's mother, Andrea, gave director Kevin Kerslake unfettered access to AM's laptops and journals, resulting in a portrait of the artist and all his many dark and luminous complexities. A mash-up in its own right, AS I AM: THE LIFE AND TIME$ OF DJ AM features music from AM's iconic open format mixes, never before seen movies and stills from his own exhaustive, personal archives, and interviews with close friends and colleagues Mark Ronson, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Diplo, Steve Aoki, A-Trak, Mix Master Mike, Jon Favreau, Sal Masekela, Dr. Drew and many more!
Self-financed and independently produced to ensure the integrity of the film, we are reaching out to you for help across the finish line. A film about DJ AM is nothing without his innovative, legendary mixes, and Adam spun expensive music. Your contribution helps keep those mixes intact, not only guaranteeing AS I AM's authenticity, but helping to ensure AM's place in music history.

DJ AM was a force of nature. Full stop.
But things get complicated.
DJ
AM not only electrified crowds throughout the world with his musical talent and
blazed a path for so many other artists that followed behind him, but helped pull
thousands of people out of the dark pit of dependency and illuminate the path
to recovery—all this having overcome a number of adversities in his own life
that most mortals just aren’t equipped to endure.
A
recovering addict, DJ AM outlasted an abusive father, lived through a suicide
attempt and managed to survive a fiery plane crash that killed four others. Yet
within a year of miraculously emerging from those flames, DJ AM was dead, the
last weeks of his life spent behind closed doors, hiding from the flashbulbs
and turning his back on the applause, finally offering one last tweet from
isolation: “New York, new york. Big city
of dreams, but everything in new york aint what it seems.” When police
finally broke into his Manhattan apartment, they discovered he had stacked
several mirrors against the door, all of which shattered in an instant….
Why?
After
all, AM was a soaring talent who partnered or collaborated with the top artists
of our time, including Jay-Z, Steve Aoki and Travis Barker; played private
parties for Tom Cruise, Steven Spielberg and Leonardo DiCaprio; appeared as
himself in Entourage and Iron Man 2; launched a video game for
Activision called DJ Hero; signed trailblazing endorsement deals with Pepsi,
Nike and T-Mobile; had his own show on MTV; put Las Vegas on the map as the
epicenter of electronic dance music…
He
had it all.

Brazenly
honest and often painfully funny, the bedrock of AS I AM is a riveting, autobiographical speech that a then 11 years-sober
Goldstein gave to an AA meeting – DJ AM in his own words – that brings down the house.

One
of a handful of filmmakers responsible for defining the aesthetic of the MTV generation, director Kevin Kerslake helmed award-winning videos for Nirvana, Green Day, R.E.M, the Rolling Stones and the
Red Hot Chili Peppers, along with seminal music and action sports docs for The Ramones, Nirvana, Soundgarden and Quiksilver, among others. Most recently, Kerslake directed Bob Marley & the Wailers' LEGEND: REMIXED for Hyundai, and dedicated Insomniac's THE ELECTRIC DAISY CARNIVAL EXPERIENCE to AM's memory.
“To track the rise of DJ AM is to not only catalog the singular achievements of a master turntablist, but to chart the explosive growth of the most popular genre of music of our time” – Director, Kevin Kerslake
Kerslake recently premiered an early cut of AS I AM at the Tribeca Film Festival and Hot Docs, where the film earned glowing reviews, noting that it not only celebrates DJ AM’s tremendous talent, energy and passion for music and his legacy of service to others, but helps foster awareness about the plight of victims of substance abuse and PTSD. Several top experts in the field have claimed this film will help save lives.
