Hello. My name is Devin Ershow and I am a Senior at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. In my final semester I am attempting to make my thesis film, "As Love Grows."
"As Love Grows" is a project very close to my heart. Over the past two years I have stuck with this story as it has evolved into something very special. The film examines love and how it is experienced and understood by people at different times in life. The film is told in a unique way, with three vignettes that follow a couple of 7 year olds on a playground, a couple in their thirties, and a senior citizen couple. The film hopes to demonstrate that love can be present at all ages and in all walks of life, but sometimes it takes a lifetime to understand what love really is.
The film is set to go into production in May of 2011 and distributed to festivals in September of 2011.
Locations are not all locked down, but the Film is looking to shoot in the Tristate Area.
The Impact
We live in really hard times right now. The economy is low, jobs are sparse, and we are fighting two wars. I think that these days it can be easy to dig down into a whole a lose all hope. However, whether you support the wars or not it is important to remember what we fight for, or at least what we should be fighting for. We fight for freedom, we fight for equality and justice. Most importantly we fight for each other. We fight for the ones we love, and that's where I am coming from. I am a fighter for love. There are plenty of love stories and romantic comedies out there, but there are very few movies that really get at what love is all about. I want people to watch my film and remember that love isn't just something entertaining in the movies. It's real, and can be found anywhere. I want to remind people that despire all the bad things that are out there, there is one very important reason to never give up hope. Love is that reason.
What We Need & What You Get
The budget for the film is $6,902.50. The majority of that money is devoted to securing locations, transporting and feeding the cast and crew, wardrobe, make up, equipment rentals, etc. I did not want to put all of my eggs in one basket which is why I am only asking for $3,000, but even if we have hit our $3,000 goal, please don't hesitate to donate.
All money and physical property donations are tax deductible thanks to our fiscal sponsorship through Fractured Atlas.
Here's some stuff to sweeten the deal if you are considering donating.
Everyone who donates to this project will get a copy of the script signed by Devin Ershow, a copy of the film also signed by Devin Ershow, and their name in the final credits under the "Special Thanks" category.
However if you go above and beyond you can get a little more.
Donations greater than $100 will receive a copy of the script signed by the full cast and crew, a poster for the film signed by Devin Ershow, and a prop or art piece from the film.
Donations greater than $500 will get to visit the set during production (location permitting - airfare and long distance trains will not be covered), a poster signed by the full cast and crew, and will receive a "Associate Producer" credit.
Donations greater than $1000 will get to be an extra in a scene WITH LINES, will have a ticket to a festival screening of the film, and will receive an "Executive Producer" credit.
