Three stories. One painting. Ascent is a short film exploring the marks we leave on each other’s lives, and the desire to access something out of reach. The narrative follows the intertwining stories of characters Adam, a young man feeling the pressures of his work; Laura, an artist struggling to formulate her ideas onto the page; and Emma, a postgraduate undergoing counselling.

We've also been extremely fortunate to work with an established and award-winning therapist to make Emma's storyline as accurate as possible. 

At its heart, the film is a meditation on what it means to navigate relationships, the pressures of work, and how we learn to confront our vulnerabilities.

We’re a crew of independent twelve Devon-based creatives - we’re not film students, but are all passionate about film. We have a cast of five talented actors, and by combining our interests and skillsets this is an ambitious, collaborative project. Now that we’ve finished pre-production, we’re asking for your help to fund the production of our short film.

We are looking to raise £1000 to be able to fund lighting equipment, set, costumes, props, transportation, and much more. Donation perks ranging from £10 - £150 include social media shout outs, exclusive behind the scenes content, Executive Producer credits and even access to a virtual premiere with our cast and crew!

Our ultimate aim is to produce an inspiring and meaningful piece of cinema that lasts long in memory.

Your financial support will help cover the costs of camera and lighting equipment, set, COVID safety resources, transportation, and film festival submissions. Whilst we're putting our own funds towards the project, we do need your support to help us reach our target!

All perks include items from every previous perk. For example, "Backstage Guru" has everything from both "Welcome to the team!" and "A-list member". 

We aim to start shooting during March, ready to apply for film festivals by the summer. 

Filming a strong production during this unprecedented pandemic places extraordinary pressures for shooting on set, introducing additional expenses in order to follow proper COVID-19 protocols.

We’ve been organising pre-production virtually, and when filming in-person we have ensured the full cast and crew have completed COVID-production safety training, socially distance and sanitise on set, and are regularly tested to adhere to government filming guidelines.
