Pushing thirty and working a thankless office job, Internet dating is one more routine in Ron Hogan’s well-ordered life. Until he meets Stacy, a fellow working stiff who disarms him by speaking the language of his loneliest moments. Featuring a score by acclaimed jazz composer John Medeski, AUDREY THE TRAINWRECK is Frank V. Ross’s 6th feature film, an exploration of what might happen if one man’s silent desperation got a little bit louder.
The films features Alexi Wasser, Jess Weixler, Joe Swanberg, Rebecca Spence, Danny Rhodes, Nick Offerman. Chicago native Anthony Baker stars as Ron. Says Baker: “Frank’s films have always been realistic depictions of working class people on the brink of madness. I play a desperate man, full of rage; ready to snap.”
For the last ten years, Ross has been shooting feature projects in and around Chicago and subsequently screening them all over the world. His first public screening was at Loyola University in 2002 and the Gene Siskel Film Center has screened his last three features. Ross’ heartwarming and often heartbreaking work has traveled from prestigious domestic venues such as the IFC Center in New York and Harvard University to diverse regions all over the world such as Ireland, the United Kingdom, Croatia and South America.
Texas native and SXSW regular Adam Donaghey (ST. NICK, LOVERS OF HATE) produced the film on a dare. Mike S. Ryan (One of Variety’s “10 Producers to Watch,” JUNEBUG, Todd Solondz’s PALINDROMES, LIFE DURING WARTIME, Hal Hartley‘s FAY GRIM, Bela Tarr’s upcoming work and Kelly Reichardt‘s OLD JOY and upcoming MEEK’S CROSSING) executive produced along with Alicia Van Couvering (TINY FURNITURE).
AUDREY THE TRAINWRECK bowed at the prestigious South By Southwest Film Festival earlier this year and will have it’s hometown premiere at the Gene Siskel Film Center in Chicago on June 19.
