Overview
When the president (and his robot wife) beckons you to the future, would you answer the call? Avalon asks what it means to seek personal fulfillment in a tech-filled world of instant gratification through a young man’s first days working at a teleportation agency. This film is crewed by a dedicated team of film students at the University of Alabama, and has a host of talent and experience behind it.
The Story
Avalon is a low-budget sci-fi film, set in a near future where all planes, trains, and cars have been abolished. To replace them, the national government is implementing the new public transportation: teleporters. The young idealist John Anderson is a new hire at the department of transportation, and he’s excited to usher in a new era. The only thing standing between John and his vision of the future? The world’s wackiest middle-management, and the realization that maybe the future isn’t all it’s cracked up to be.
Inspired by Brazil and Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Avalon uses a zany future setting to explore a timeless story about the places we look for greater purpose.
