SYNOPSIS

AMARA is an engineer working to terraform a hostile planet with her AI companion, TOKO. When an alien threatens their safety, Amara is confined into a suit by the AI that will keep her awake as long as the threat exists. Will they be able to put their differences aside and learn to work together?

OVERVIEW

Awake is a sci-fi short film inspired by films like Her, The Martian and Hitch, which raise questions about the implications of digital worlds and what it means to be human.

The film is an intimate look into the lives of two individuals who must learn to see past their differences and connect on a deeper level in order to survive.  The story speaks to aspects of society that are not as felt today as they should be, such as friendship, optimism and self-actualisation and the question whether technology can fulfil the social need for human connection.

TIMELINE

With the script finalised, we will soon begin the casting process for which we already have some exciting ideas in mind. 

The production will start in early February and we have a total of five days planned for filming, which will allow us sufficient time for VFX and post-production.

Our goal is to enter Awake into film festivals by the end of May 2020.

BUDGET

Science fiction is probably one of the most expensive genres to bring to life. The costs will be covering many aspects of the production, from set design, makeup, wardrobe, location fees, to feeding the cast and crew.

The production design team is working hard to create a complex sci-fi set, Armour and Alien that are going to be brought to life through 3D printing and more.

The film has also many practical and visual effects, so the more we can raise the more spectacular it will be!
