About Me and The Project
My name’s Euan Foulis. I’m a filmmaker originally from Dundee, Scotland, now based in London. I’ve been making films and media productions for ten years now, firstly on my Youtube Channel, and now in a professional capacity, with a CV that has included screenings at the Scottish International Festival of Cinema, The Mansfield Film Festival and being a runner up at the UK Film Awards.
‘Back’ is the first short film I’ve fundraised for, it’s a very personal project about what it means to fail as a young person today, and how we can face that and move forward. It feels important today especially, when so many people feel hopeless about the future, to tell a story that acknowledges these realities and shows a positive way forward.
By giving even a little bit of money contributors will help us tell this story and add another positive story to the world.
What Your Money Will Go Towards
Sadly, filmmaking is an expensive process. Your contributions will help us hire out high end equipment, such as cameras, lights and recording equipment, that will aid us in making this film as high quality as personal, the construction of the costume, set and props that will create the world of ‘Back’ and pay all the crew and cast we hire who come onto this project. Freelancing in film means never knowing when your next pay check will come from in the hope of helping to create exciting works of cinema. As a freelancer myself I know how nerve racking this career can be, and as such I have a personal ethos about always wanting to pay the people who work on these projects as much as possible. It is the least that can be done for everyone’s hard work.
For every contribution we receive you will gain access to one of our perks, which varies depending on donation. These are:

£25 – All of the Above and a copy of the film
£50 – All of the above and two pieces of concept art.
£100 - All of the above and three pieces of concept art.
£250 – All of the above and an invitation to the films premier
£500 - All of the above and a cameo in the film (if wanted).
If we are unable to reach our crowdfunding goal we shall be readjusting our budget so that we can still shoot the film, however depending on the amount raised the shooting script may be readjusted to be shot within budget requirements.
Challenges We’ll Face
Filmmaking is a tricky process. Unforeseen issues, from last minute schedule changes, to unexpected illness to location drop outs, to the shooting schedule going over, all of these can impact a shoot. Thankfully myself and the team behind me have dealt and experienced issues such as these and overcome them ably. We are aiming to shoot in the city of Dundee, where myself have the team have many connections, meaning that in the event of location drop outs we’ll be able to find a replacement swiftly. In the event of schedule changes, we shall swiftly communicate that to our crew and backers and reorganise an alternate shooting date. On all of my productions I book in the shooting week months in advance with the aim to avoid any such disruption. Even if our schedule goes over on the day, which rarely occurs on my shoots due to extensive rehearsal and planning in the weeks coming up to the shoot, myself and my team always have work arounds planned in, either from cutting shots that aren’t required for filming, or adjusting our shot length and set up to save precious time. Any and all developments like this shall be communicated to contributors, so that everyone is up to date on the films progress.
What Can I Do If I Can’t Donate?
We understand times are tough right now and that not everyone has a spare £5 they can give. All we ask is that if you’ve viewed our project and think this film has potential; give us a share on social media or tell a friend about us. Even little things like that helps us bring ‘Back’ to life.
