Welcome to the crowdfunding for our new CD!
We are the Bad Mouse Orchestra, a four-piece band from Germany playing swing and jazz from the 1920’s to 40’s!

We discovered a confident queer movement in the 1920’s and 30’s that in many ways paved the road to the later stonewall riots and gay liberation movement.
It was a time in which queer music started to bloom and filled the stages in many big European and US cities. Male and female drag performers, cross-dressers and queer entertainers swarmed out into the night-life and made it a whole lot more colourful!

The songs we found are full of swing, love, irony and heart, yet they are barely remembered. We want to change that!
After intense research, digging through archives, traveling to London, Berlin, Los Angeles and talking with some incredible biographers and collectors, we packed our bags and invited two amazing guest musicians to record our new album!

On it will be 15 songs by queer artists such as Gene Malin, Karyl Norman, Ma Rainey, Bruz Fletcher, Tony Jackson (all pictured below) and many more! One of the songs has never been published before!

There will be an extensive booklet giving you information about all the artists, the songs and the historical background of this fascinating era. The studio recordings are all done and paid for, and with your help, we can now produce the physical CD’s!
