Overview

Bad Tidings is a micro-budget feature film, shot in New York City and its suburbs. The film follows three 20-something detectives: Grimwald, Samuel, and McGroob. Each is plagued with insecurities and indecision as they begin their detectiving careers. With Christmas on the horizon, the detectives might prefer a calm holiday at Mom's house, but a case they've neglected has snowballed in their absence, and the responsibility draws them back into danger.

We're Buckshot, baby. Buckshot Productions NYC, LLC is a Production Collective dedicated to making lo fi micro budget short and feature films. And, yeah, it's Buckshot, baby.

We intend to keep everyone on our set warm and well fed, especially since so much of the film takes place outside in the winter. Help us keep our cast and crew happy and healthy!

Risks & Challenges

Bad Tidings is being produced with guerrilla filmmaking tactics, meaning that we are primarily shooting without permission, on the fly, in live locations. This means sometimes we will encounter wonderful unscripted moments with non-actors in the frame.

We are working as a small crew, where everyone shares many responsibilities.

The three primary locations are NYC, Croton-On-Hudson, NY, and Fairfield, CT.

Meet The Writers and Directors

Christopher Maher (Writer/Director) - Christopher Maher graduated Ithaca College with a degree in Screenwriting in the Spring of 2016. He has served as the writer/director for two shorts: Pluto (2014) and The Bird Ladies (2015) and is currently in post production for his first feature film, Fimbulvintr.

Samuel B Russell (Writer/Director/Editor) - Sam works as a video editor, and is interested in making weird movies. His previous projects include short films Hard Waves (2015) and We're Goners It's Fine Relax (2014). Sam graduated from Ithaca College with a BS in Cinema Production in the Spring of 2016.
