Synopsis
BALLON BLEU is a heartfelt and visually stunning short film sprung from the mind of writer/director Tina Rodriguez. The story follows, BLU (Tina Rodriguez) who is a mime and her fantastic journey through time, expression, love, and rejection, with her ever-present and incarnate companion, the BLUE BALLOON. The Balloon represents everything Blu is attached to: an old love and heartbreak, beliefs about herself, all things that hold her back from being her true self. Although always aloft at her side, the balloon becomes an anchor, keeping Blu from personal freedom and self-love. BALLON BLEU is a powerful story of affirmation and one silent entertainers pursuit of her authentic self. In order to participate in the cycle of giving and receiving love, Blu must let go, will she be able to do it? Don't we all deserve to be exactly who we are?

DIRECTOR / “BLU”
Tina Rodriguez is an actress, musician, singer, dancer, and healer based in Austin, TX. She began acting in film and singing at a very young age. Her journey into the healing arts has prompted her to create art with the intention of healing. Throughout her life Tina has developed the character and story of Blu. Blu is very much an extension of Tina's creative and generous traits. This is Tina's directorial debut and first production showcasing her numerous artistic gifts.
PRODUCER
A.J. Del Cueto is a native Texan and Brooklyn-based producer, director, and actor. He has managed production and post-production companies in New York for almost a decade that have supported hundreds of projects ranging from commercials, independent feature films, TV, web, 3D and VR. In that time he has also produced a web-series, multiple short films, and recently his first feature film.

Leslie Langée is an experienced and talented Assistant Director. She will be Tina's right hand woman during production. Since Tina is wearing so many hats, Leslie will keep the production on a beautiful and steady track!
The Plan, The Parks & Perks
The film’s production will take place over three days. Two of the three production days will be in Prospect Park, Brooklyn. An additional shoot day will be at a yet-to-be determined park in Central Texas.

Giving & Receiving
Giving is one of the most rewarding acts a person can make, it goes hand-in-hand with the act of receiving. Being open to receiving is its own great feat at times and world does not make it an easy commodity to trade anymore. Blu's story of letting go is meant to serve as a beautiful expression and elementary aspect of giving and receiving. The process of fundraising and the message of BALLON BLEU is to perpetuate more sharing of love and positivity in our world.
This is a very personal and universal story in which we all participate at one point or another in our lives. We have a small window to shoot this year before we have to push to the spring, so don't hold back on any contributions you may be considering in the future. There is an ambitious aerial component to our shoot we're really looking forward to the spectacular images of the New York skyline from the Park. The sooner we reach our goal the quicker we can get production up and running.
Regardless of whether we reach our goal we are dedicated to bringing this story to life. We will adjust our budget as needed, Blu is a practical clown!
