Overview
Just like you, I'm tired of all the negativity in the world right now. Why not have a laugh at my expense? Balloons is a comedy based on my one ridiculously embarrassing day as a balloon salesman. This was supposed to be a nice, easy survival job... I want to give something back for your donations. I'm teaming up with a no-kill animal shelter that rescues injured dogs and cats and helps them recover. Your contributions will give TLC on their journey to a furever home.

About Balloons

Balloons is a short comedy about an entitled MBA graduate who is entering the work force and thinks he can do anything. But he is given a cold dose of reality when he experiences first hand how the other side works and lives.

Who am I?

My name is Jeremy and I truly love filmmaking and storytelling, especially to get a good laugh. I'm a graduate of Emerson College and I've been working in the exciting world of Hollywood filmmaking ever since. Being on set everyday is a blast for me! I get to meet so many creative people and travel to exotic locations. Just this past summer I was filming "Gold Rush" for Discovery Channel in the Canadian Yukon, a place I never thought I'd visit!

My first gig was with the YES Network where I was a camera operator on two TV shows featuring the New York Yankees and NY Giants. More recently, I have been working camera on feature films that have aired on the Hallmark Channel, Lifetime and Pixl TV. I have also shadowed directors on NBC and CBS shows.

My goal in life is to entertain people with a fun and exciting story. We all live stress-filled lives, but I find great joy in helping people forget their troubles for just a little bit. My hope is that Balloons can provide you with that escape and a good laugh too.

Past Work

My last film, Riff Raf, was a short comedy about a jazz trumpeter who accidentally ends up in a classical orchestra. I was totally taken by surprise and honored when it won the Lou Costello Award for Best Comedy Short at the Garden State Film Festival in Atlantic City, New Jersey and Jury Choice Award at the Boston Student Film Festival. Riff Raf was also reviewed in Studio System News! Here's the link: http://www.ssninsider.com/five-directors-to-watch/

Call To Action! How You Can Help!

What I need from you is help spreading the word! Indiegogo offers two kinds of fundraising campaigns, fixed and flexible. This campaign is fixed, which means it is all or nothing. If we don’t reach our goal, no money exchanges hands. It’s this way because we need to meet our goal as a minimum to green light this project.

This makes your contributions more important than ever! Even if you are financially unable to donate you can still be a huge help by sharing our Indiegogo.com page with your friends and family on social media. Indiegogo offers share buttons at the top of this page right under the financial goal bar, which makes it a piece of cake to share our page with your Facebook friends, Twitter followers and other acquaintances via email. It’s the shotgun effect call to action. The more people that view the fundraiser page the better our chances of reaching our goal.

Here’s what your financial donates will go towards:

  • Location and Permit Costs
  • Film Equipment Costs
  • Cast and Crew
  • Transportation
  • Craft Services and Catering
  • Props
  • Post-Productions

So what do you get for your contribution? Besides helping fund the movie, you’ll be helping animals in need at the Lange Foundation. Your donations will treat cats and dogs to walks, toys, play time, blankets, food and more! With some of the prizes, you could receive a picture and bio of the animal that was treated on your behalf! Check out the perks to see what you can contribute to the animals of the Lange Foundation.

The Impact: The Film and Helping Our Furry Friends!

There is a lot to be stressed about today. In this type of environment it is easy to focus solely on the negatives and forget the positives. Now more than ever we need a good laugh! Just put your stress aside for a little bit and have a good laugh. Remember, the greater impact of this film is the cats and dogs we will help at the Lange Foundation.

Risks & Challenges

Balloons presents several difficult risks and challenges at every phase of production. None are impossible to overcome, and my experience with shoe-string budget independent filmmaking has prepared me. When I originally pitched Riff Raf, I told my professors and classmates at Emerson College that it was my ambition to film the movie's climactic scene with a full classical orchestra on a theater stage. I was greeted with understandable skepticism. How could I, a regular student who had absolutely no connections to musicians, conductors or even a theater, overcome the incredible demanding production needs to make the film work? The bottom line is that I refused to take "no" for an answer. I researched hundreds of music directors and jazz musicians in the greater Boston area and wrote them letters, where I passionately pleaded the merits of the film and how their creative input would be a critical part of the final product. I faced a lot of rejection and even the possibility of not graduating, but I refused to give up. Each contact I made lead to more contacts until I found the right people who said yes!

Riff Raf was a great experience for me. It taught me that working hard for what you are most passionate about, even in the face of great adversity, can pay out with big results. And there was no bigger pay off for me than the first time I heard the audience's laughs and cheers as Raf, the main character, got himself into all kinds of trouble.

My Inspirations

Many storytellers and comedic writers have inspired me throughout my career as a filmmaker but none more than Matt Stone, Trey Parker, Jerry Seinfeld, and Larry David. I admire South Park for the show's ability to seamlessly create ridiculously entertaining stories while slipping in well thought-out and honest criticisms of society. I have been inspired by the works of Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David ever since I was in high school. They are the best at intertwining different stories and characters, and make it pay off in a big way. I also admire the fast-paced scripts from Seinfeld. Scenes were quick and to the point. The humor is real and based on character development. More importantly there were no dumb jokes that talked down to the audience. I took what I admired most from these creators and used what I have learned from them to help craft the script to Balloons

Perks and Rewards

We are offering a number of perks and rewards for donations to Balloons the movie. I think it is important to give something back for your generous contributions to the film and that is why I am working in association with the Lange Foundation, a local animal rescue, to help animals in need. The impact we will make on these animals lives will be huge! And hopefully the impact these animals have on the lives of humans will be just as big when they find their forever homes!

Your donation can do a lot of good for these animals. A dog could be walked on your behalf,  a feline friend could get a little play time. There are other donations to improve the lives of these four legged critters too!

In addition we have some other prizes too. Like the official T-Shirt of the film (subject to minor changes before delivery), the official poster of the film, a digital copy of the movie or even an autographed script with a personalized message from me!

You can expect to receive your rewards sooner than anticipated. The only reward that is truly time sensitive is the final digital copy of the movie. If we reach our goal, I'll start honoring all the other rewards as soon the fundraiser campaign concludes!

Thank You!

From the bottom of heart, thank you so much for taking time to learn about my film Balloons. Please help spread the word! The animals of the Lange Foundation thank you! And hopefully we will see you on the big screen!
