Thermal View of Heating & Cooling

We believe everyone is entitled to the best night's sleep that modern technology and design can offer and we have been developing Balluga for over seven years to make that possible.
We have reached the fully working, market ready product stage and had a successful Kickstarter campaign to allow us to bring Balluga beds into full production and into people's bedrooms worldwide.
We are are now very excited to bring Balluga to Indiegogo InDemand to allow others to support us at some new pledge levels. We would love to hear your feedback, so please get in touch and tell us what you think!
The effects of lack of sleep to our mind and body on a day-to-day basis are cumulative. In one study, people who slept for six hours a night for two weeks performed as poorly on cognitive tests as those who stayed up for 24 hours. That holds true even if you don't feel particularly sleepy.
Balluga mattresses and bases are manufactured from a combination of natural and man made materials. They are all selected to be non allergenic and anti bacterial to deter any bacterial or bed bug infestation. All of our mattresses will comply with regional sleeping certifications and standards to ensure the highest level of hygienic sleeping conditions.
Balluga’s built in technology is inaccessible by design and is fused and insulated for ultimate safety. All the mattress, bed base controls and monitoring sensors run on 12V DC. The heating elements which are safely sealed within the bed base run on mains power. They are triple fused and triple insulated for optimum safety.
The Balluga sleep monitoring and operating systems have very low energy consumption as each feature of the mattress or base is normally operated for a limited amount of time throughout the night.
The maximum power loading if all the sleep features are operated simultaneously will not exceed 100W, while the heating elements can consume up to 1400W when the heating function is engaged. During normal use, only a fraction of the maximum energy output is utilised for a few seconds or minutes depending on the functions used.
Balluga beds have a 10 year limited warranty for all mattresses and bases which covers all materials, components and workmanship subject to normal wear and tear. This limited Warranty extends to the original purchaser and not to any third party.
Balluga mattresses must be used normally for their intended purposes and on a bed base that is level flat and structurally capable of supporting the weight of the Mattress and its user(s).
Balluga’s limited warranty does not cover any physical abuse or damage to the structure and/or cover material, including but not limited to, misuse, burns, cuts, tears, liquid damage, or stains; provided, that the defect is caused by such abuse or damage.
The Balluga Bed concept has been in development for over seven years as our founder Joe Katan was frustrated by sleeping on sagging and non-adjustable mattresses. There was nothing on the market that was able to resolve these and other issues so Joe decided to take on the challenge of developing a bed that could.
-
2010: Late in 2010 he assembled a proof of principle vertical air cell unit
-
2011: He moulded an air diaphragm and linked a group of vertical air cells to test the principle as an independent zone to support a larger body of weight
-
2012 - 2013: working with designers and software engineers, the first two single bed prototypes were created
-
2014: a hybrid design of air cells and layers of supporting foam was conceived to improve the design.
Balluga continues to developed its own suspension and other technologies and has patents granted and others pending worldwide.
The Balluga name and brand is a registered trade mark in territories worldwide.
Set up is very simple, you could do it in your sleep! There are 3 simple steps which will take less than five minutes:
1. Unpack the mattress and plug it into a power socket
2. Download the Balluga App
3. Open the App and the mattress will automatically inflate and be ready to use in about 5 minutes.
4. The bed base is either made up of 2 or parts depending on size and takes about 10 minutes to assemble.
Balluga Bed bases are available in either our Concept design shown in our video or our Classic free standing base design which can be fitted into existing bed frames just like a drop-in box spring unit. It can also be used independently as shown in the animation video below. Mattress & Base backers will be asked to select which of the two base designs they wish to order.
During our launch phase, we have manufacturing partners in China who are able to produce and distribute our products worldwide. Our design and development team is based in the UK and our long term mission is to establish local assembly and distribution centers across our key markets.
The mattresses and bed bases will be delivered via international couriers. The mattress will arrive vacuum packed in one box and the bed bases will arrive in 2 to 4 boxes depending on the size of the bed chosen.
As the inventor of the Balluga bed, Joe has overseen specialist teams of industrial designers and software engineers to develop a number of prototypes over the last 7 years to reach this launch stage.
With your support he hopes to bring the many benefits of the Balluga bed to consumers worldwide and provide them with their best night's sleep night after night.
