ANOTHER SHARK MOVIE?
What is your most irrational childhood fear? Sinking in quicksand? Swallowing a watermelon seed and having plants grow in your stomach? Or was it sharks in your bathtub after watching Jaws? You aren't alone. That's why Bathtub Shark Attack is a movie that needs to be made. It will do for bathtubs what Jaws did for beaches.
My name is Madeline Deering. I directed a movie called Spirit Animal. If you haven't seen Spirit Animal, it is a shot on video slasher movie. I also co-host a podcast about shitty shark movies called Shitty Shark Show. So, I know what you're thinking. Another shark movie? Why?
Since Sharknado came out, I've loved all the Syfy Channel shark movies, but now it almost seems overdone. As a lover of shark movies, I want to give you a shark movie experience like no other. I wrote the original script for "Bathtub Shark Attack" as a short film back in 2017. After cast, locations, and special effects didn't seem to work out, I shot the feature film Spirit Animal instead. Now, I have turned that script for "Bathtub Shark Attack" into a feature length film. I was able to expand on a lot of the ideas I had in the short film, bringing the film to a whole new level. We have a very creative script, we will have buckets of gore and creative shark kills. Creative shark kills you never thought you would ever see, may I add. We have it all.
The movie follows a down on their luck couple, Cindy and Chad, who are looking for a cheap place to rent. They come across Broslin Apartments, a week to week apartment building, but it is too good to be true. As Cindy becomes more obsessed with the bathtub, it is revealed something sinister is living in the pipes of this apartment.
What We Need & What You Get
We want to give you the best movie possible:
- Locations! We found an incredible location for the film that will bring this movie to a whole other level. It has the exact look we need to bring you back to the 80's. Since this movie is shot on video, we want it to look completely authentic.
- GORE! We are trying to make the GORIEST shark movie EVER! You have NO idea what we have in mind for the kill scenes!
- We want our actors to get paid, and get fed well. And, our shark needs fed too!
- There are lots of perks available, and things you will not find anywhere else. We have props from the film, limited edition DVDs, Blu Rays, VHS, and even Dingo Pizza and beer with the crew!
- Even if we don't reach our goal, this movie will happen. It may not happen in the location we want, or with the amount of gore I want, but it will happen. It may just take a little longer. This is a passion project I dreamed up years ago. I will never let it go!
Splash-O-Vision?
Much like Spirit Animal, which was released in Smell-O-Vision, Bathtub Shark Attack has a gimmick. Each DVD comes with a squirt gun, so you can squirt your friend when watching it with them. When a shark symbol appears at the bottom of the screen, you squirt your friend - or each other. Making this a interactive experience that is only approved with a couple beers.
Madeline Deering and Joseph Russio, the team behind this film and NekroShark Films, have already completed two feature films in the past couple years. You can trust us this film WILL get finished and be everything you hope for. Filmmaking is our passion, and we want to bring you the best film possible.
Our shark was designed by filmmaker Sean Donohue and sculped by Marcus Koch. This film will have 100% ALL practical effects. NO CGI shark. NO CGI blood. Get ready for the wildest shark movie in years.
Cast and Crew
We are putting together a killer cast and crew. Many alumni from Spirit Animal will return, and even fan favorite Timmy (FUCK THE ENVIRONMENT!) makes an appearance. Here is some of our crew behind the scenes:
- Joseph Russio is the cinematographer/editor/special effects artist. Joseph is known for his work on Spirit Animal and his award winning directorial debut film "Beyond Dark Dreams." Joseph is beyond talented at everything, and is a frequent collaborator with NekroShark Films. He won an award for Best Cinematographer at Shockfest for his work on "Beyond Dark Dreams."
- Madeline Deering is the writer/director/producer. Madeline is known for her directorial debut "Spirit Animal" which was released in 2020. She is a co-host on SOB's Who Love SOV and Shitty Shark Show. She is very active in the indie horror community, and this is her second feature film. She also directed the short film "Trash Removal" for an upcoming anthology.
- Matt Cannon is the composer. He has composed music for countless independent films including the killer soundtrack to "Force to Fear", "Spirit Animal", "Mail Order Murder", and many more. His synths and killer soundtrack will complete the film.
We will be adding many new cast members in the near future, but here are some of the names we have so far lined up to bring this film to life:
- Benjamin Dietels is Chad. Ben is known for his acting in films like "The Boonies", the "Meowy" Movies, CarousHELL, among others. He has also directed a number of films along with his production company, BPO Films, including "Slaughter Drive" and most recently the hilarious "Bergeron Brothers: Wedding Videographers.
- Keith Monahan is Timmy. Keith Monahan is known for his role as Timmy in "Spirit Animal." Expect Timmy to be like Kenny from South Park. He might die, but he always comes back as if nothing happened. Maybe it is because Timmy is always high.
- Jennifer DiBlasio is Grace Watkins. Jennifer is known for her roles in films such as "Beyond Dark Dreams", "Steel-Man: The Movie", and many more.
- Tim Gross is Bill Thummer, the plumber. Tim is known for his film "Jagoff Massacre", his "Blood Freak" remake, and his upcoming film "Tales from the Gross Side." He is a independent horror movie reviewer, and writes many short stories. He is a well known Yinzer in the Pittsburgh area. He is also co-founded the convention Grossfest, which caters to independent filmmakers in the Pittsburgh area, and all around the world.
- Tom Gross is the bartender. You may remember him as the bartender from "Spirit Animal". Tom is an amazing supporter of indie films, and the other half of the Grossfest family. We are always honored to have him in our films.
Risks & Challenges
There are always challenges to filmmaking. And there are always ways around it. We generally have a quick turn around on our films and will deliver you a great product that you will love.
We love movies. We love shark movies. We want to make the type of movie we would like to watch.
