The Baxter

Hello Everyone,

We are The Baxter - a bar and arcade set to open in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. We started as four friends, bartenders, and gaming enthusiasts that wanted to bring a new kind of bar to the Triangle - These bars have popped up all over the Metropolitan areas of the US, and they serve a two-fold purpose: one is to serve drinks in a vintage, nostalgic environment. The other purpose is to preserve these pieces of art so that generations to come can appreciate the humble beginnings of the gaming world. We want to keep these games just as we all remember them - completely awesome and operating in the best condition possible. Our forty machines run the gamut of arcades in their prime, from 1978 to 1998. If you can think of the top fives games that you loved as a child, we probably have at least a few of them!

The Baxter team has financed everything up this point. We are now mid build out, and finishing construction along with restoring these machines to their original glory is becoming costly. Instead of going to a bank for a small loan, we thought we would appeal to the teenager in all of you - to see what kind of help we could get from the Internet community.  We are trying our hardest to open by the end of August, when the students at UNC Chapel Hill return to school. That means completing our bar build out and getting our machines fully restored as soon as possible. We want to make sure these games can handle being on for 8+ Hours a day - and some of these beauties are from 1978...a lot of TLC needs to go into them!

Every little bit of money can help with something, light fixtures, arcade parts, etc. You could even help by just spreading the word about us. Please help share our campaign, and thank you for your time and donation.

Sincerely,

The Baxter crew
