What's Happening?

What's Happening?

What's Happening Butterfly?

A study of the sorts of the world I live in.  It's full of creativity, beautiful people and places, and mystery.  It's already going down!  I've traveling to various cities seeking the secret beauties, artist, musicians, intellectuals, and the un-heard ofs to interview, photograph,  and collaborate with.   All documentation will then go into three handmade books {standard 8x10}, a magazine {half size zine 5.4x8.5}, a performative photographic lecture, a cd, and on some buttons or shall we say pins.  I say tomatoe, you say tomato.  Over the past 5 years I have spent a considerable amount of time living and traveling through some amazing places.  Now it's time to share the experience.  Photographs remind of us of what's out there and what we don't remember.

I say Buttons and You say Pins with Photographs...

I think I have a button on almost everything I own.  Love em!  I wanted to share my button love so I figured this was the perfect way.

I want you to have the books to experience the journey and feed your spirit.  I want you to have "Bee Looking Around" in your collection.   I also want you to have a button to wear on your favorite shirt, jacket, hat, or napsack that includes a one of a kind photograph from the adventure.  There's also a mystery musical sound landscape album in the making that would be gifted to you.  Help me make this dream come true.  From the bottom of my heart I thank you for any contribution you can make.  I need help bringing three books, a magazine, a compact disc, a performative photographic lecture and lots of buttons to life.  I can't do it alone.  Believing in You, Believing in Me.

A Dream, A Reality, A Story-Long Winded Version

Greetings friends, family, and lovers of art and curious creations!   I’m writing to give you insight on my adventures.  On December 28, 2011, I decided to leave the east coast with $150 bucks I borrowed from my mom to document these States they say are United.   Traveling by only car and train I wanted to travel the land.  After 28 years on earth I had never seen the land like this.  At that time I knew I wanted to photograph, play music, and have video documentation of the adventure, but I was not quite sure what parameters to set for myself.  I hopped a ride with my high school friend Justin Fetsko to Chicago and we were only supposed to stay for 24 hours.  24 hours turned into 48 hours and then it turned into almost a month for me.  Justin had to leave me because my bank account did not agree with the continuation of my journey.  I thought I was supposed to get a job and hang out in Chicago for a while, so I searched high and low.  I found nothing that would help me do what I’m dreaming of.  After spending an unexpected substantial amount of time in Chicago I finally figured it out.  I need to set perameters for this project and ask for help to get this journey on the road.  I called my mom and asked her another $150 bucks to get me going again.  By train I traveled to Emeryville, CA and told my Mom,” Don’t worry I’ll figure this out, I have faith.”  Here I am now in the Bay Area, it's been exactly 41 days now of hanging out between San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, Pacifica, and some parts of Marin county.  I'm beyond grateful for all the musicians, artist, activist, random fish, dreamers, and all those others you wish you knew and I want you to know, who have made this dream real.  It's amazing to discover various ways of what it means to be living.  So many dreams, possibilities, vibrant energies, and lovely folks.  There's so much to share, but I need some help getting the content out there and continuing this adventure.   I plan to hang out around the Bay Area a little longer and create a little base to allow this performative photographic lecture to take place while I'm out here.  It's really the only way to get the job done.  You know? :) Thus far I have 3 possible spaces for the performance on the west coast.  One in Oakland and two in San Francisco.  I have plans for this performative photographic lecture to also take place on the east coast.  There's three possibilities in Philadelphia and one in  Brooklyn, NY at this present moment.  Things will be more definied as this adventure continues.

Yo folks! I'm gonna need a good bit of money to get this done the right way.

7.Digital Film Processing and Lab Rental
I again must find the spot in Oakland.  I know Project Basho in Philadelphia has facilites I can use.  Workstations are $12/an hour. InkJet Printing is $4/sq ft.  Large Format printing is $20/linear ft.  A monthly pass is $250.

Another place I know of in Philly is called Philadelphia Photo Arts.  Depending on what work station I need the cost could be $8-50/an hour.

12.Framing
Framers Workroom in Philadelphia will be doing framing on the East Coast.  On the West Coast I plan to use Steve Bernzweig.  I met him when I was in the Sunset of San Francisco looking for a place to get change for the bus.  The only business I saw at the bottom of this steep hill was the frame shop.  Let me just say that I did not want to walk any further considering I had all my travel bags with me.  Whew these bags are heavy!  As I walked in with a large bag on my back and one on my chest the gentleman in his shop greeted me with nothing, but kindness and curiosity.  We had a lovley conversation and from there I knew I would use them for framing on the west.
