About the Film
Bicyclists of Baltimore started out as a social media project to celebrate the diversity of bicyclists in Baltimore City. After experiencing the uprising in Baltimore this past May we wanted to contribute something even greater to the unification of our community. By creating a documentary film we not only celebrate individuals, but bring them together in a visually compelling narrative that transcends social and economic barriers.
We follow the lives of bicyclists from all corners of Baltimore exploring how the increase in cycling in Baltimore helps to shape the city as a whole, and strengthen our different communities. We examine the ways in which Baltimore, a city with deep socio-economic and racial divides, can become united through the use of a human-powered vehicle.

Our Mission
Historically, Baltimore is a very economically and racially segregated city. Bicycling brings people of all backgrounds together for the many different needs that biking fulfills. Our mission is to share individual and collective stories that reflect this complex reality of Baltimore, while providing a vehicle for union.

This documentary highlights people of diverse backgrounds, ages, genders, and experiences, and is for everyone who is passionate about the need for cities to work towards social justice. We will screen Bicyclists of Baltimore not only in film festivals nationally, but in publicly accessible, open venues throughout Baltimore City. In order to do this, we will need help and $$. That’s where you come in!
HOW WE INTEND TO USE THE FUNDS:
With your generous contributions we will be able to acquire the equipment, resources, and funding in order to bring the documentary to fruition, and screen the final product for not only Baltimore, but cities that are also experiencing similar struggles while working towards change.

The Impact
This documentary is about our diverse community of riders. Once completed we'll be screening it at distinct, outdoor locations all over Baltimore -- in both east, west, north and south regions of the city. We're currently in discussion with local non-profits to help organize events that will be totally free to the community. Bicyclists of Baltimore is of Baltimore and for Baltimore! Please help us continue to promote and uplift our city; the one that we love and the people within it.

Andy Dahl, is a community organizer in Southeast Baltimore, and a life-long artist exploring multiple media as a means for community development. Marissa O’Guinn is an award-winning filmmaker and performing artist based out of Southeast Baltimore. As active bicyclists and visual artists living and riding in Baltimore City we know that it was once a rare sight to see people cycling through the streets of our city -- even on designated bike paths. Now, Baltimore is chomping at the bit for more biking infrastructure through the emergence of group bike rides, bike advocacy organizations, and bike oriented gatherings. Through Bicyclists of Baltimore, we document the ways that bikes are changing the city and the people that live within it.
