Light Bar features a water-resistant design, shock-absorbing components and chemical-resistant materials. And Light Bar's function matches its form – it is the brightest battery-powered LED work light ever made.Big Ass Light Bar began as a passion project of Big Ass Solutions employee Keith McKay, a former automotive technician. Frustrated by the low quality of portable work lights, Keith began researching how to build a light for men and women who need unbreakable products.

The World’s Most Versatile Handheld Area Light

Light Bar was born in an auto shop, but it sure as hell doesn’t have to stay there. Whatever you do and wherever you go, Big Ass Light Bar will keep the lights on.

  • Auto Shops
  • Oil Rigs
  • Contractors
  • First Responders
  • Military and Police
  • Hiking and Camping

Bright-Ass Light

Featuring an output of up to 5,000 lumens, Light Bar’s light angle exceeds 180 degrees, illuminating entire areas — not just what’s in front of you. Six different brightness settings give you total control over the light output.

(Practically) Everlasting Light

When the sun goes down but the job isn’t finished, you need a light that will always turn on.

Light Bar’s compact rechargeable battery provides up to 48 hours of continuous light, or up to 1.5 hours at maximum brightness. Easily swap out a spent battery for a charged one, and get back to business in a matter of seconds.

Take It to Hell and Back

At Big Ass, we build things to last. That’s why we built Light Bar to exceed the most demanding standards imaginable, using components that will endure corrosion, drops and years of daily use.

Light Bar is IP66 Rated to be insulated from dust and particulates, and is washdown-ready.

Chemically resistant components stand up to diesel, gasoline, lubricants, penetrants (PB B’laster) and everything in — and under — the kitchen sink

The overmolded battery, grip and end-piece absorb any blow, ensuring your light will always turn on when you need it.

Intelligently Designed

Whether it’s in your hand or on a tool bench, Light Bar is designed to stay put. Its octagonal shape is roll-resistant and keeps the light stable on any surface, and the overmolded handle provides maximum grip when you take your light on the go.

The Team:

Before joining Big Ass Solutions, Keith McKay spent seven years as an automotive technician. Existing handheld and area lights were a constant headache. They broke easily, used outdated technology and were either tethered to power cords or relied on underpowered batteries that produced a weak light.

When Keith started working at Big Ass, he realized that he could do better. He started researching on his own time, evaluating existing products and talking to American workers about what they wanted in a light. After six months, Keith enlisted the help of a small team of Big Ass Solutions' star engineers to create the brightest, toughest handheld light ever made. They brought the Big Ass Light Bar from concept to working prototype in just two years, often working through lunch and on weekends on this passion project.

What began as one man’s mission to build a light that gets the job done transformed into something more – a unique invention that sets a new quality standard for lighting technology.

Keith: Product Manager

When he's not busy dreaming up new products, you might find Keith playing ping-pong in the Big Ass break room.

Dan: Senior Electrical Engineer

Dan won the Mr. Kentucky Overall Bodybuilding title in 1998. Light Bar's ultimate strength test? Dan's biceps.

Kevin: Mechanical Engineer

We can always tell when Kevin is having a good time at one of our idea/beer drinking sessions because he starts turning a bright shade of red.

LeAnna: Electrical Engineer

Being a kick-ass engineer isn't enough for LeAnna. She also moonlights as a bartender at one of our favorite local watering holes.

Brian: Senior Design Engineer

When Brian isn't designing the baddest light around you can find him in the kitchen baking up a storm for his family and friends.

Jason: Electrical Engineering Team Lead

Want someone to design you a badass light? He's got it. Want someone to pour you a beer he brewed himself while you play with said light, he's got you again!

David: Mechanical Design Engineer

David not only helped design this amazing light, he also designed and built his home.

Josh: Electrical Engineer

In college, Josh sent experimental hardware to the International Space Station as part of a NASA project. He sent some satellites into orbit, too. No big.
