About Us
We are a team of masters students from Bournemouth University media school consisting of a full crew including Director, Producer, Director of Photography, Sound Designer, Costume Designer & Make-Up artists. We are all incredibly passionate about the film and aim to make the highest quality short we possibly can. We come from a range of different backgrounds and cultures and have experience with filmmaking and media.
The Film
The film itself is of a hybrid between both Drama/Thriller genres and switches between the two as the story progresses. The film follows a gorup of 5 young people as they escape their boring lives in their quiet town for some fun and excitement camping in the woods however, one day the trip takes a wrong turn and the group are thrown into an unusual and high velocity situation without an explaination. The story of the film is unconventional in structure.
The film will aim to compete with industry standards in both the way it is filmed and performed down to how everything you see has been thought through vigrously and designed to fit perfectly.
'Bittersweet' draws influences from cult films such as 'The Hole' (2001), 'Donnie Darko' (2001), 'American Beauty' (1999), 'The Blair Witch Project' (1999) and television series such as 'Skins' (2007-Present), 'Misfits' (2009-Present).
The music of 'Bittersweet' ranges from urban to more classical which is a unique combination especially given the story of the film.
What We Need
We have 6 Locations, 7 Actors, two extras, and 7 days of filming on Location. We need funds to pay for Locations, Costumes, Make up, Actors expenses and Specialist Props which are one of the most important elements of this film.
We are asking only for what we need. We are making the film as low budget as we can but also do not want to compromise on the quality of the end product due to shortage of funds. Every contribution will be hugely appreciated and we have our perks for all the contributors ranging from Production stills to getting an Executive Producer credit on the film.
If we do not reach our goal of £1500 the money that we recieve will go towards covering the costs for Locations and Props. However, all aspects of production are extremely important and we hope to achieve our goal through your contributions.
We hope to offer experience to everyone included and the actors as the roles are quite diverse and essentially allows them to play two roles within each character due to the nature of the story.

Impact
This Project will help a group of extremely talented young people a chance at expressing their talent and creativity and take the film ahead to various platforms.
The film is not just entertainment but also puts across a big social message about the ill effects of excess. The film is not your typical thriller and concentrates more on the drama of the characters and the situations.
The contributors on this film get a chance to be a part of a very great project and have their names mentioned on the credit titles of the film.
The director of the film has been involved in a number of projects so far throughout his university career one of his most notable and proudest pieces of work include 'Keep Going', a short film drama which follows the life of a lonely old man who is dealing with the loss of his wife and struggling with what life has thrown at him. A link of the film can be found below:

The director started his career making documentaries and has always had an interest in finding out about people and what really lies beneath the surface. After moving to masters level he gained more of a taste for film and brought this experience to his work on drama creating dynamic characters and stories that are more than what they first seem.
