Overview
Blotted tells the story of a fresh-out-of college student, Bailey, venturing into a daunting job interview. The pressure seems to be too much, as she begins to see ink blots everywhere she goes. She also begins to experience strong flashbacks, which may lead to the reason why she’s hallucinating in the first place.

A year out of college, Bailey has not found a stable job and is still living at her mother's house. After applying for several jobs, she finally finds herself at an interview. However, from the moment she walks into the building, Bailey begins seeing ink blots everywhere. Flashbacks occur throughout the interview, where Bailey is reminded of a traumatic argument she has with her mother - revealing their emotionally abusive relationship. Bailey attempts to overcome her hallucinations and trauma by the end of the story, but not all wounds can be healed so easily.

All donations will go towards producing the film. Our biggest and only reward is the film itself! Our film takes place in various locations. Hence, half of donations will go towards location scouting and booking sites. A quarter of the budget will be allocated to transportation, including accommodating actors and crew, and renting cars. 20% will go towards equipment maintenance (as we have our own professional equipment) and props/scene building, The rest will go to feeding our crew. Although Cal students are known for their pseudo-robotic work ethic, long hours on set necessitates fuel.

In addition to getting credits on donors in our film and our endless gratitude, you will also receive special perks depending on your donation amount!

Blotted is an exploration of anxiety, told through the story of a young woman who experiences trauma at the hands of a relative which manifests itself in horrible ways. Many of us have felt trapped by anxiety in our daily lives, and we hope that this film will illuminate aspects of anxiety. A not often explored subject, we believe it is critical for us to be able to explore all the different facets of a mother-daughter relationship, especially in this context.

Creating a short film is always a challenge. Fortunately, our crew members have had experience on other film sets and have the confidence to push through to create this one as well. As members of Delta Kappa Alpha, a National Professional Co-Ed Filmmaking Fraternity, we dedicate what little free time we have as students to cultivating our craft. You can access our past creative projects and client work by checking out our Vimeo. Not only have we produced short narrative films, but we also have commercial experience working for clients such as local startups (Cafe X, AppOrbit), UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business, and on campus student organizations.

Our greatest challenge is acquiring the props and equipment that are necessary to bring our film to life. UC Berkeley's film program has limited resources since our school is more geared towards the technical majors. In order to overcome our limitations, we have to look elsewhere and be resourceful to create our projects. Our past experiences have definitely taught us to make the most out of what we are given, so we promise that every dollar will have a direct impact on the art we are trying to create.
