About the Product

Use Blowout Pal to showcase that perfect birthday cake so that the celebrants will enjoy the presentation. The high quality transparent plastic allows the party goers to perfectly view the cake without touching or breathing on it. The lighted candles further highlight the occasion with a grand, sparkling, and shimmering enhancement of the celebration. No need to fear candle wax dripping on the cake or unsightly candle holes in the icing because Blowout Pal prevents this. The guest of honor can now huff and puff and entertain the guests without showering the cake with a spray of saliva. The guests will appreciate this especially in this time of viruses and colds.

The birthday cake sits upon the white scalloped-edge platter, and it is protected by a high quality, transparent, hospital grade plastic cake cover; which allows a full transparent view of that perfect birthday cake. The detachable candle deck is also a high quality plastic and it slides and locks into and sits upon the cake cover. When the celebration concludes, the candle deck is unlocked from the cake cover and stored below the platter where it slides and locks into the underside of the platter and it stores there until the next celebration. You now have a kitchen counter- top food storage cover perfect for storing pastries, bread, and fruit which will adorn your kitchen environment.

I am launching this campaign to cover the costs of securing a plastic induction mold et al for the manufacture of Blowout Pal. Estimates range from $55,000 to $ 104,000 for aluminum or steel respectfully. Since I do not possess these funds, I am therefore utilizing Indiegogo crowd funding to cover the mold cost, production product run, packaging, perks (rewards), insurance, and the like. When I attain my goal of at least $ 55,000, I will have the product ready for sale this Spring or Summer. Blowout Pal may be subject to some manufacturing improvements. Thus, I would highly appreciate your supporting this campaign and telling your family, friends, associates, acquaintances, coworkers, et al, and together let’s fight the spread of diseases while enjoying our food.

Blowout Pal is a dual purpose product when:

1. The cake is shielded from the guest of honor’s saliva while they blow out the candles, and

2. The food (pastries, fruit, and bread) is stored within Blowout Pal between celebrations.

In closing, my grandchildren love to plan the candle design layout on the candle deck and spend much time and discussion with their peers brainstorming the perfect candle design. Whenever there is a family cake celebration, my grandchildren always demand Blowout Pal. Now, I know Blowout Pal is a winner!

The Idea

Hi, I am Brian Donnelly, inventor of Blowout Pal. I am a retired NYC public school teacher with an honorable discharge from the US Marine Corps. I have a lovely wife, three wonderful children, and five beautiful grandchildren. I have spent many years in retirement coaching youth basketball, founding and training public school marching bands, founding and developing the US Coast Guard Aux Marching and Concert Band in (first in the Nation) Northport, New York, and the Northport Jazz Big Band (now Gold Coast Jazz Band). Also, I served at the Northport VA hospital as a volunteer in the Recreation Therapy Dept. dealing poker for the Vets.

The Blowout Pal idea came to me one day, like a bolt from the blue, as I was driving down Main Street in my hometown. I went home and produced a mock-up in my basement workshop. I then engaged the services of a patent agent, a graphic design artist and filed a provisional (one year) utility patent application. Shortly thereafter, I hired a prototyper and after a year of creative and collaborative effort, we produced the prototype called Blowout Pal. I then retained a patent attorney, and he filed a non-provisional (20 year) utility patent which was granted a year later. After several product improvements, I was granted a total of four non-provisional patents.

(This is Blowout Pal without the removable candle deck!)

The purpose of this invention is to heighten the joyful party experience of blowing out the candles while:

  1. Stopping mouth fluids from reaching the birthday cake when the guest of honor blows out the candles, and
  2. Serving as a kitchen countertop food storage cover protecting food between birthday celebrations.

Please view the "full" scientific study and/or the short "abstract" thereof by Prof. Paul L. Dawson from Clemson University that describes the Bacterial Transfer Associated with Blowing Out Candles on a Birthday Cake. Blowout Pal would surely be a solution to this dangerous problem.

After many months of conducting focus groups, surveys, Facebook comments, posts, and consults, I am convinced that the public wants this product. To bring this product to the market, I need funding of at least $55,000 for a plastic induction mold, a finished two thousand product run, packaging, product fulfillment, product insurance, accounting services, warehousing, and the like.

Funding is a big challenge, however, if the folks get out the word and trumpet this campaign by using the Indiegogo share tools, I believe Blowout Pal will make it to the market.

***** Many thanks to my teen-age grand daughter, Caroline, who volunteered and starred in this campaign banner video, edited and organized the video, and served as an IT expert for this campaign.
