THAT WAS UNCALLED FOR!

Blue Monday is a short film (15 minutes approx. in length) exploring minds dilapidated by depression, mental illness, and pop culture, landing on a line between reality, and delusional insanity.

It is a character study of two young gents; one described as a hopeless dancer and depressed basket case, and the other a narcissistic psychopath; and their disturbing coolness towards a horrific secret; creating a Tarantino-esque atmosphere, including a plethora of pop culture back and forth, and an ending that is on the verge of the horror genre.

Without giving away too much of the ending, it can be said that this dramatic piece is a satire on violence that will resonate with the masses.

SO IT GOES. (or how I learned to stop worrying and ask for help)

We are student filmmakers that want to embark on our first short length film on our own. The main players of the production are Mike Cristo, the Director and screen writer; and Chris Gora, the Cinematographer and other technicals, with other crew members. The screenplay has been finished and we are about halfway through with pre-production, what we are looking for is donations going towards location, props, equipment and other such things; things our daytime jobs just can't afford.

Your contribution to the production will be rewarded with various perks, displayed on the side, but no amount is too small. All support is appreciated!

Our goal is to make a fantastic short film, showcasing our talents and desire, along with a message that can reiterate our generations stance on violence, mass media, and pop culture; with also defaming such message through gritty realism and shocking imagery. It is also going to be used for film festivals and showcasing what we can do as film enthusiasts and students.

FAQ:

-When will shooting commence?

It matters when funding materializes. Our tentative deadline as of now is to start shooting early next year, late February or early March. Of course, though, if we get out funding before that we will start shooting earlier. Our final tentative deadline for the entire movie is April 2012.

-When will you get your perks?

Within reach. It will matter when we get our funding, what snags we will encounter, how long it will take to shoot, and many other variables. As the tentative deadline is for April 2012, it is safe to assume that this is also the tentative perks deadline, but don't be surprised if it is slightly later, or slightly sooner than that.

-Why support this film?

Not only by supporting this film will you be helping us create something we have been working really hard on, but making a dream of ours come true. We are true film lovers/nerds/buffs and would like to create one of our own to show that love affair we have with movies. This is not only a beautiful portrayal of supporting a scene that we are all apart of, but to support a medium and art that we all adore.

Mission Statement from the Director, Michael Cristo:

“What I want to show with this film is the gritty realism of what happens when mental anguishes goes untreated. To take a lighter note of the extreme, showcasing such homages towards directors like Scorsese and Tarantino, I think will effectively create a not only a surrealist, but demand more from the audience, atmosphere than just numbing us from violence, but to confront it. It exists as much as it did in the past nowadays, if not more upfront to the masses, and as a society we need to confront such things.”
