BlueFox is a stand-alone safety product. No additional equipment or installation is required to carry out the necessary alert functions in an emergency case. It functions in any type of water and pools around the world. The only condition is that you are not alone and somebody can provide the rescue procedure in an emergency. BlueFox can be programmed very easily and is consumer-friendly. All it requires is a free download-program of the BlueFox software found on our website. With the PC you can adjust time and depth anytime. 

The operator of a commercial pool facility might be interested in the possibility of integrating the functions of a cash card, an access control, season tickets dressing-rooms etc. This is possible by equipping the BlueFox bracelet with any available RFID chip and will be receiving a multifunctional bracelet with the principle application of a safety unit.

Why did we develop the BlueFox ST1 anti-drowning bracelet?

With BlueFox we want to help prevent drowning and near-drowning by giving an early alarm when somebody is in trouble. Drowning is not the violent, splashing, call for help that most people expect. Drowning is almost always a deceptively quiet, silent and invisible event. The waving, splashing, and yelling that dramatic conditioning (television) prepares us to look for is rarely seen in real life. Drowning is the second leading cause of accidental injury-related death among children ages 1 to 14, with a lot of drowning accidents happening close to parents or other adults. The problem is being able to recognize in time when somebody is drowning. Not only can children drown, it can happen to anybody in the water, even professional swimmers.

But keep in mind, BlueFox is intended to complement lifeguards, not replace them or reduce their responsibilities or vigilance. BlueFox does not save people from drowning – lifeguards do. Under no circumstances should the presence or use of BlueFox result in the reduction or modification of lifeguard staffing or duties as required by regulation or normal practices.

Drowning is one of the leading causes of accidental injury-related death among children!

It should be mentioned that the second-most common cause of accidental death for children is drowning. In addition to the fatal drowning accidents, the number of nearly drowned children is approx. 5 times as high. Many of these accidents can result in severe bodily harm and brain damage due to lack of oxygen. 

Many of thesetragic accidents happen in public swimming pools and private pools. Contrary to popular opinion, most victims of drowning are not non-swimmers; in fact, the largest section is made up of experienced swimmers.

The method most commonly used today to keep swimmers safe is to monitor them with a trained lifeguard.  But factors such as fatigue, distraction, a poor overall view and noise may cause the attentiveness of the observer to waver, ultimately leading to lapses in safety. What’s more, to justify costs, attendants and lifeguards are often given additional tasks. To ensure that pool users are fully supervised, a minimum of one lifeguard per pool is necessary at all times. But in practice, this is not realistic.

Drowning Statistics in the US

Many people enjoy swimming pools and don't think about drowning. And yet every day, nine people drown in the United States. The statistics can be quite alarming, especially for parents with young kids -- but it does help people realize the reality of the potential danger of swimming pools.

• For each death caused by drowning, there are 1-4 nonfatal submersion accidents serious enough for the victim to be hospitalized

Does BlueFox replace lifeguards or other supervisors? 
No, BlueFox can’t replace lifeguards or any other supervisors. BlueFox is a product that gives support to lifeguards and other people in and around the pool. Somebody needs to rescue the drowning person. BlueFox helps by giving an alarm in time. We still recommend learning to swimming and for your own safety, please respect the rules in the various swimming pool facilities and waters.

Who is BlueFox designed for? In principle BlueFox can be used by everybody, from toddlers to elderly people. It’s useful for swimmers and non-swimmers who are in the water, but also around the water. Anyone can  wear Blue Fox. 

In which waters or pools can BlueFox operate? BlueFox could potentially be used in any kind of waters. But it only makes sense when there are other people around. This for example could be in private pools, commercial (public) pools, waterparks, therapeutic baths, beaches, lakes, waterways, ponds etc.

Can BlueFox be reused after triggering an alarm? Yes, it can. Simply buy an exchange alarm capsule and klick it into your BlueFox base of the  bracelet and it will be ready again. 

Can I use the exchange alarm capsule without the bracelet? No, this is not possible. The bracelet is especially designed for BlueFox and it operates with a sophisticated software and by a special trigger mechanism. The unit only works with both of these parts. 

How many exchange alarm capsules do I get? Exchange alarm capsules have to be bought separately, except with the Early Bird Plus perk. With this perk you will get an extra exchange alarm capsule included in the package.

Is BlueFox available in different colors and different bracelet sizes? Yes, BlueFox ST1 will be available in different colours if we reach our stretch goals.

How does BlueFox recognize that somebody is drowning? BlueFox is a high-tech micro-computer, which constantly measures the depth with a pressure sensor. The individual programming of the BlueFox is made on a PC. That means BlueFox monitors the person in water. An alarm will be triggered as soon as the programmed depth and elapsed time has been exceeded. This special programming allows you to jump into the water, dive, and do whatever you want without giving false alarm.
